Okay so I did my best and this is how it looks. I connected it but Miami is doing the same thing.

Did I do something wrong?

When I power my A1200 on there's a red light on that small piece I soldered and the switch shows a green light. I am assuming it's connected correctly.

I can take a photo if you like?

Would you consider trying the demo version of roadshow to prove the hardware? RiotRetroGaming did a guide video here:

I've installed roadshow and it just locks up now. I copied the files over in the link you sent and that did not help.

Does it matter that it's connected to a Gigabite switch? Or that it's using Cat 6E patch cable?

You could try another cable, maybe straight into a router, but I'm running out of ideas

What KS does your A1200 have? I wonder if I can send you a known good image?

Hi again, can you take a closeup pic of the cable and the connectors. It looks like the cable is 12 pin and the a1208sde is only 10 pin so i would like to try to see what pin goes where on your cable on both ends.

this looks like your encoder board...

I have tried multiple things. Tried a different cable, different switch nothing seems to work.

The machine boots and when it loads the spinet.device the light on the switch goes out and the A1200 is frozen.

I am lost.

can you do what i asked above your last post please. Also, if you unplug the cable to the a1200 from encoder does the a1200 still freeze ?

this is the one that should be used...

just catching up,
i think the issue is the ether board you have may have 2 pins that are in different locations, i have both versions at home and can verify this for you this evening , stay tuned. we will get this sorted out. no worries.

I tried some older Ethernet cables and there is a difference but still not working.

So with the older cables you have the green link light and the yellow activity light. Which I like to see but it does the same thing. When the driver loads it goes out.

Could it be how it's connected?

I will make a video and post it so you can see. I've done lots of networking in my lifetime so this should be no problem.

I'm very familiar with old technology, way back in the Arcnet days and 10BaseT and so on. I do have a cross over box but I am sure thats not what I have.

I also have a tester which shows me which pins are connected to what(just need to find it)

here is the pinout of the A1208IDE+

here is the pinout of your encoder... (Q3 is 3.3v)

So what you nee to do is match the signals of the encoder to the SDE+ (This encoder is a bit of a pain to get working but it will. I think you should order the correct type listed below

What I do have is a lot of CAT5 and some Punch down boxes. So I can change the pin layout like I want. I will see what I can do with what you've given me.
