I connected ftp via Terminal, logging in credentials "ftp" and "any" (without quotes). and preceded to download.... same speed... 157k, so i don't think its a restriction of Anonymous vs issue. This done, just now Unable to login with credentials via browser as i think it just falls back to default even with correct ftp:any syntax. Either way,, running Terminal session prompted username/password in this case. Last edited by amiga_Forever; 19 October 2017 at 01:01. |

I've done testing myself here and not found any problems so, either way, there is not much more I can do.
Since my last fix, this is basically what I am looking at all the time now, speed wise. Quote:
So not much I can do for you that have problems I'm afraid. I'd suggest stop using "terminals" (whatever that means) and web browsers to download from FTP. Get a real FTP client like Filezilla or FlashFXP (my favorite) and verify speeds to ftp.sunet.se, logging in with "anonymous" and any password. If you want to test speeds on the same link using a webbrowser, try this link: http://grandis.nu/downloads/Games_WHDLoad_AGA.3.0.zip See if that makes a difference. If there is a difference between that file and the FTP, its either your client or my FTP server. If its just as slow from that link, its not on my end as its hosted on different servers using the same internet link. If you have to use a browser and use your own login, the format is ftp://username:password@grandis.nu but not all browsers allow that anymore. Works in Firefox and Edge. Internet Explorer stopped supporting that format a while back. I do have one more thing that I am currently doing and will present in a few days hopefully. I'm very happy with the FTP performance, always been, so I wouldn't worry too much Turran.
Thanks for having this great service for us all! |

So I think we have a final solution to everything related to anonymous users on site.
I have bought unlimited storage at Google, so I present this: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...XRvNkVOelNNRk0 Took me several days to send everything over because the software totally sucks. I'll keep it synced every day or so. So my suggestion would then be to either disable anonymous logins entirely or limit them to something like 20k/sec (500k/sec today). Any objections or suggestions? Edit: There are a lot of "desktop.ini" files on the google drive. I've been unable to disable that, despite trying all sorts of registry settings, so for now, deal with it =) Last edited by Turran; 25 October 2017 at 16:25. |

Wouldn't this create issues related to "copyright" stuff?
I just don't know how relating to Google feels. Well, I know, it feels icky and problem-prone. Once you start getting a lot of hits there, it might raise flags. Just don't want you to get in trouble. |

Guess we'll find out. You can't find the link anywhere except for me pasting it here.

Out of interest, how much space are you using and how much bandwidth per month?

Edit: Some old logs show about 500 GB a day. Not sure how accurate that is yet as the logs are reset now. Last edited by Turran; 25 October 2017 at 18:26. |

Either use
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...XRvNkVOelNNRk0 or register an upload account and use that instead of the anonymous FTP account. Its still in a testing phase. We'll see how it goes. Last edited by Turran; 26 October 2017 at 15:39. |

OK, understand.
As I'm not a fan of Google drive and as I am not able to DL anything from the above link (I always get an error message "Error while compressing"), I would like to create an upload account. But.. I know it is for sure a dumb question... But HOW can I create such an upload account? Last edited by HOL2001; 27 October 2017 at 08:03. |

I assume you've got Drive Unlimited at a special rate, but just as another option - I have a server with Hetzner and you can get the current version of my server with 2x2TB drives, 30TB bandwidth, 64GB RAM and an i7-6700 (or Xeon equivilent) for €39 a month. An extra €10 gets you 2x4TB drives instead.
The benefit with this being that you can host other stuff on it as well as files (e.g. websites, email, etc). May be worth considering depending on how much you're paying at the moment for Drive. |

I must say though, I'm not a big fan of google drive either. Their software sucks. This is, however, just a test period. If people hate it, we'll just go back to how it was. |

I hate it. It has Google in it. I never had an issue with DL speed, 500k/sec is okay. 20 k is almost like dropping the connection.
