From what I can remember on this thread Jens said that he didn't knew if the board was working with the HxC...

Anyone has tried ?
Can you post exact info.
Exactly what it does etc etc.

Simply saying it dont work, dont help.
What happens if you disable ACA630 via jumper, does it work then?

I have removed the "Nodisk" jumper, it's working now.

I was uploading a 64 MB video to explain what was happening.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Amig...e/P1030054.MOV (will be available in 14 minutes)

But it's working now

PS: I'm doing a coffee right now, but I don't have my cup ( (kidding)

Sigh, it clearly says in the instructions.
I even posted in my post on Christmas Eve regarding jumpers.

Fol,

I don't read and remind all posts in the forum :-)
That's what I was saying: this card has been designed to work without internal drive, if not, it would have been more logical to unset this jumper by default

moving on acatune

My 1st impression about the ACA630.

As I own a Viper A630 I would say that without using acatune the board is average.

but...

with acatune, it's a real little beast, my feeling on the workbench is that it seems a lot faster. I prefer the ACA630 already. I don't regret my purchase.

Can't wait for aDoom, ScummVM for the Indivision ECS, it's going to kick ass

Question : When I have acatune (on the 1st line of the startup-sequence) I have the intuition window that appear like that : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Amiga/ACA630.M4V
Because it's in French I translate : "Intuition try to initialize the workbench screen, close all the windows except drawers."

Is it normal ?

If I remove acatune from the startup-sequence, I don't have it.

Add >NIL: to the end of your Acatune line.

Again, this is mentioned in the Acatune guide.

I don't have it.
On the paper guide given with the card it's written to go on www.icomp.de (for the acatune software) but I didn't find the software there.

I found it on the Oliver Signature, but there is no documentation.

/me is probably blind

It's not on the printed guide, it's in ACATune.guide - which has explanations for every ACATune option and is essential reading!

If you don't have it, it's in the original package here:
http://www.icomp.de/t/bin/ACATune_V10.lha

Then there's an updated ACAtune binary you can get from here:
http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...postcount=1388

Read it

Have a look at his blog (http://cosmosamiga.blogspot.com/) look at all the mods in 2010. I don't know anybody here that has done much more mods than him.
No he is not out of respect. definitely.
That 630 is a totally unique peice of hardware and since there's no accelerator like it, no matter how much hackery skill one has, only the guy who designed this would know what's what. He's made that point clear but like I said before if you want to put it on the line, good luck to you sir.

FI, from http://www.icomp.de how did you manage to get the lha ? (I mean without the direct link)
Yeah, as I said I already have the binary, and it's working. I was just wondering if this window was normal.
Of course I'm going to read it. There are probably lot of usefull things inside thanks

Granted, I'm not sure it's actually linked anywhere on Individual's site, but it was posted in the thread back here: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=996

I'm sure Jens will update his website when he finds some spare time

The guide was also supplied to some Amigakit customers on a floppy (which was just a gesture on AmigaKit's behalf and at their expense).

Ok, good to know that I'm not blind or dumb.

So... a customer which don't have a clue about what EAB is, or doesn't understand English and didn't had the floppy on the package (like me) is a bit stuck with acatune.

It would be usefull to put the direct link on the paper or something like this, no ? Because saying read the doc when you don't know where to get it is a bit weird

Well that would just be wierd, cause how would you know about the card in the first place .

I have written a new beta version of ACATune tool, which should make most ACA1230-56Mhz users very happy, because it fixes the following issues:

- Ram (especially RAD disks) is now reset-proof (currently Kick 3.1 or greater only)
- IDE drives recognized after MAPROM

http://eab.abime.net/attachment.php?...1&d=1294335231

In order to activate this feature, the Kickstart ROM needs to be patched after MAPROM. This is done by using the new "p" option. For example:

acatune -maprom * p (internal ROM)
acatune -maprom <kickfile> p (external ROM file)

After installing the patch, the Amiga takes a little longer to boot. In exchange, all of the issues should be fixed.

Have fun!

Update: this update now supports patching 1MB Roms. Be sure that the area in file offset $7ffa6-$7ffe7 is free and not occupied by any ROM module
Seems to working good here!, when I reboot it does flash up a rather odd orange screen. It's def. not a yellow or red screen..

To show a time delay to give the Hard drive to be found?
BTW I'm getting 11979 drystones, 12.5 MIP, 9.84 times standard 1200 Speed according to Sysinfo.

I just wanted to pick a colour which hasn't already been chosen by the Amiga OS developers. I'm probably going to change it to something else in the final version.

Glad that somebody finally tested it and reported back positive results.
