happens with winuae straight from adf or whdload, also on real hardware so it's definitely the game doing it, not whdload. It's more obvious on real hardware as its scrolling is buttery smooth except when jumping.
A minor issue, I must be nitpicking.

And yeah there's always an issue with them buttons.

Which issue exactly?

Last night jotd fixed the problem where the "Final" .ADF wouldn't install with the WHDLoad slave:

Strange thing: on my A1200 and KTRL32 joypad, the blue button doesn't jump (I'm using 2 button mode of course)... when testing other games I've fixed for joypad work ok (blue button jumps on Parasol Stars).

But works on WinUAE... Read timing issue? Anyone has this problem on a real machine?

Nothing that can't be fixed, either by McGeezer on a 4th final version (nooooo...) or with a whdload slave update. You tell me.
The jump not working on different joysticks / pads is still work-in-progress.

So, I'm back from Amiga 34 and have had a chance to catch up on stuff.

As there are problems with some joypads/joysticks I'll need to look into fixing them.

I do have one question which might help me fix the problem faster...

Should this SEGA joypad work on an Amiga A1200 with two button?

I know the middle B button works as the fire button, but no other button does. Is it supposed to be compatible?

http://109.228.4.199/downloads/SEGA_PAD.jpg

If someone could let me know then it would be good, I have no other game to test as my WHD Install is broken and I haven't been able to fix it (as I don't know how to yet).

If there is a bug, it’s really minor, as wainair, it work
Very good on cd32 tf330 , such superb conversion !! Thanks again mcgeezer for it and jotd for the slave.

Ps: I play with cd32 original gamepad

When you have a Mega Drive pad button B works as fire, but button C works fine too as a separate second button if it's properly coded for a poll. But this is something technical that Jotd or Toni knows better.

OK, I'll work on this basis then and see if I can fix it.

"timer stop" is working normally on my A1200.. maybe FS-UAE timing issue... will investigate...

i'll propose a "pause" button too... would be cool to take some screenshots of the game...

otherwise it is fluidity foolproof!

i'm playing... playing playing... non stop lol

You can press 'p' to pause the game and ESC to quit the game at any time back to the main menu.

Bugs:
1) sometimes if you die right after you press fire, fire sound enters in loop in the death sequence
2) (you can ignore this since it's very marginal) very minor flashing background at screen reset changes (main menu to game, game to main menu, after you die and continue etc.)

@Foul
No issue with timer 1:00 here on my WinUAE...
I know about problem #1, will fix later.

I have a list of mostly minor/convenience issues that I posted a bit back but maybe you haven't seen. the game is great as is, but I thought I'd sneak in these again

glitches:

- entering a password works only once. Even though the password stays there the next time you hit the main menu and it says e.g. "start round 4" but it starts round 1. You have to re-type the password to start round 4 (or whatever round) again.
- sound glitches occasionally when dying, the fight sound gets repeated fast

nice to have:

- would be cool to have the high scores saved
- Skip intro text at start of game / after game over with fire button to speed up trying-and-dying sequence
- pause/resume button for us CD32 pad users would be great (PLAY button on CD32 joypad). When paused: press e.g. BLUE (==2nd button) to exit game
confirmed, there are bugs in the password system - can fix later.

CD32 stuff will be for another time... maybe a month or so.

That's what I'm trying to do right now.

It is proving difficult to get to the bottom of.

Ross provided me some input. Probably the OS also fiddling with POTGO. Damn this button2 hardware interface is annoying.

Ross suggested the following for the whdload slave

Quote:
Problem here is that, for some reason, system is initially disabled, POTGO set, and after reenabled (and POTGO rewritten).
So if I set up immeditaly POTGO via bootblock with potgo.resource even if system is reenabled (could be also a future write support) there will be no problem.

You could use immediately potgo.resource to setup POTGO
I'm not used to tell game authors to fix their games. Usually the source has been lost and the author now does something else... So I handle this directly from whdload. But here that would be a pity to do that.

Main idea here is to not touch POTGO in ADF/floppy release in game.
Then leave all to WHDLoad slave for the 'non-standard' Joystick/Joypad control.

The test ADF in the zone set a right POTGO through potgo.resource directly from bootblock and delete all POTGO setups in game.
So the game do not need to fiddle with the damn stuff (for a natively standard 2 botton joystick this definitely WORKS).
Different if Graeme insert full Joypad support in game.

I have problems with the rope. I go up to up, jump to the right, but I fall often. It depends from game to game.

problem is that on real amigas it works for some people and for some other people it doesn't. Looks like a timing issue that winuae isn't able to emulate properly (and I'm not blaming Toni, this is a useless feature to emulate, except to fix those issues)

So if Graeme can't reproduce that, it will be more difficult. Except if Ross solution works.

Note that my joypad read code writes to POTGO in the end, and it works properly. I had some issues with Skeleton Krew CD32 too (which doesn't use the OS but may fiddle with POTGO and in that case I just left the original joypad read routine, which is probably a mistake...), though. I'll investigate.

Well, this 'real' people need to try my test version and report
Sure a standard 2 button Joy (or Master System compatible) need to work.

And here the reason to separate ADF/floppy from WHDLoad POTGO mess.
A slave is much more simple to update or test/modify for strange controller.
