I was hoping to use 1.5 divider with these at 400MHz for 266MHz but that extra 16MHz was too apparently too much.

I have to look up that CPU, as I recall you want a 2.2V version.
Going to send my card to upgrade/CPU replacement. I am going to buy this CPU, can you please confirm this one is gonna work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-PPC750L...-/151374574697

Before any other activities I need to know if the CPU replacement solved the problem. Will be native 500 MHz CPU working at 400 MHz as the sonnet is set to this clock with now? Or will this require changing the clock rate on the PCB before the CPU replacement?

If CPU replacement solves the problem Cache chip will be also replaced by the proposed CY7C1347G-250AXC-ND. This Chip seems to be 4 MB, how this is done that CPU will use 1 MB of it and not 512 kB like before? Any activity needed to be done to activate 1 MB Cache? Or CPU uses automatically 1 MB if available?

Can you please also share the link with documentation of the clock rate setup on the PCB?

Thank you all for support, now I will need some luck ;o)

https://github.com/Sakura-IT/SonnetA...ardware-Clocks

It will run the CPU at whatever rate is set on the board via the resistors, so if you replace the CPU without changing anything else, it will run at 400MHz.

Cache upgrade requires no changes to the board, the library should just detect the correct amount and for 1MB set the speed accordingly at 200MHz for 400MHz CPU, 2:1 divider. And remember you need two of these cache chips which are 4mb=512KB.

That CPU looks correct but I would double check to make sure it is the 2.1-2.2V version. If it is 1.8V that is still an unknown whether it will work. Don't have time right this moment to check.
*EDIT* That looks like the correct chip.
I would not recommend really buying from some random ebay shop like that but who knows it all might work out.

OK I agree, I also would rather buy CPU chip somewhere in the specialized shop, but where? Does such shop exist?

Sorry to hear about your Sonnet hardware troubles Jack-3d. I always get so stressed out dealing with all the old hardware, you have to be very careful and it's easy for things to go wrong.

I've sold most of my A4000 class systems, but I have one remaining, with a CS MK2 and Sonnet. I try not to disturb it now

I have an A2000/060 as well, and CD32 (stock) and CDTV. That is it.

So we have a new toy to play with, that we have just got running. It is not optimized yet and not 100% stable but far enough along that I feel comfortable mentioning it.

Here is something to chew on.

And the good ol' Sonnet to compare.

OKAY. So more All (?) things are running. Some All (?) real world apps running. Q2 58FPS @ 640x480, 909.95 Bogomips, Q3 30FPS @ 640x480 with sound on (running a very very simple demo).

Now we need some Altivec apps to test.

There are problems though. Have to use an unofficial PCI library since the current version initializes some registers on boot. So we need Elbox to release a fixed version of pci.library.

Next problem is that memory configuration is far from optimized, so I think it's running a lot slower than it should be.

A little bit of tweaking:

Just to clarify, this is not a Sonnet. It seems power hungry. It does not work stable in my A3000. Or I have a faulty card.

forget about that slow thing its history and there was more work than just programming also there are many cpus to choose from 603 to G4

also we have more hardware issues yet to solve not with the card per say but other factors
