I have an A500 with an IDE-controller. The controller has it's own setup program that doesn't allow changing the maxtransfer rate and HDToolBox doesn't recognise the HD (CF-card) on the A500. Last edited by Tyball; 22 February 2007 at 23:15. |

That's a good idea Zetr0! I don't have a 600/1200, but maybe I can get somebody to help me.
@ Jope: I forgot to mention that at some point I used the appropriate driver's name in HDToolbox and then it recognised it. Only problem is that it didn't give the correct amount (15MB instead of 128MB). It says in the readme that the driver's name must be used with KS1.2 and I have 3.1. After that I thought I could just enter the right amount of cylinders, heads, etc, that the original installation tool of the IDE-controller gave me. Problem was that from then on I couldn't get the card recognised anymore. I'll keep on trying 'till it works. I want a bigger card anyway, but first must get the small one to work before I spent the cash. |

I'm having problems setting up my new 1Gb compact flash card. It works in PCMCIA reader flawlessly, but I want to use it as hdd. In HDToolBox I can read information and make partitions. But after partitioning when I want to format DH0 or DH1 I get Format failure: No disk in drive
I tired on my A1200 and also in WinUAE using KS3.0 and Install 3.0 adf. I'm all ears for some suggestion or clue. |

Did you set the max tranfer size during setup, may have caused an error during formatting.
Can you still read the card with the pcmcia adapter |

I did set max transfer to 0x1fe000, the same I did on other cards. I managed only to do partitions, when doing format it always gave me No disk in drive error. I can use it in PCMCIA reader after I format it to FAT on my PC.
This is the first CF card that I found that doesn't work as hdd, maybe it's not compatible with Amiga. |

CF card incompatability is highly possible, do you have any details on this card ? brand age vair-volt? supported these are very interesting info, especially for gizmomelb's project (catalouging cf card details) but before you give up there may be ONE more way to play it this worked for one of my cards... not to sure why but i am reasoning it to pcmcia to cf does't convert EVERY possible signle or XP doens't attach the CF card via a CF->IDE adapter and then lump it to your PC... try using this now in WinUAE good luck *fingers crossed* my friend |

Tried to set it up my A600, but with no luck. This time first I made two partitions on whole drive, and later only one partition in middle of drive and I left max transfer untouched but it was the same.
@Zetr0 Brand of card is TakeMS, I bought it few days ago and I don't know is it dual voltage or no. I already did the CISInfo stuff for gizmomelb's project. I'll try tomorrow your tip to put it in PC ide, maybe it will work. |

I tired to set it up as you said Zetr0, but with no luck. I got the same No disk in drive error. Obviously it's not compatible with Amiga.
But I noticed something else. When I connect this not working card on PC IDE it shows as removable disk. Using the same CF->IDE adapter other card that work on Amiga shows as normal hdd on PC. Anyway it's no big deal, I'll switch with friend for another 1Gb card that I hope will work. |

I am glad you get to swap it for *hopefully* a useable one. I am also glad that gizmomelb's project got to get the detail on this non-compatible card
