Very cool game launcher!

Not really usable until "key letter" search....

Keep work!

It's nice indeed.

Finally I managed to set KGLoad with a bunch of games (had to remember all this amiga os stuff).

Works great. Excellent work !

Now I'm going to try this on my xbox.

Don't be sad KG.....

your work is great, but the application suffer some things: what about if someone want to play switchblade 2? 'bout 2 minutes of "keep down pressing" to reach the game....

You know, as I said: you' re the man!

Now that you've eliminated the need for pretty icons might as well transfer all tool types from such into your frontend too

saves space too

You what?

The tooltypes are picked up from the icons, and will remain that way.

Don't know if you paid much attention to the whdload tooltypes but they are in no way consistent, making them a complete bitch to setup and maintain, especially in a presentable way to the user

Plus, I'm investing a lot of time in this project, mainly because I will use it myself, and hopefully because it'll provide a decent arcade frontend for users. It's never going to be a complete MAME32 style solution because there's just not enough users to warrant the effort.

Sorry!

I was just stirring

but then, perhaps all the tooltypes could be entered into your proggy (a letter or numeric legend with room for expansion sets) so the intial time the icon is read in it will save the activate tooltypes and save it in the prefs for that game, if this feature even exists. This way people can change the values for preload instructions inside your frontend without accessing the icon and changing it. Also it could work both ways, a value changed in your front end would save out to the icon as well as the prefs file.

The only problem here I can see would be setting that supports different values. But even then they usually have just a few settings, in this case if you have say 16 tooltypes a to p and the tooltype setting c had 4 variables it could be ca cb cc cd for example

but hey, keep it simple eh and don't listen to Slayer who hasn't played a whdload game for many many years

Again, why do want me to store the tooltypes in menu if you want them read-in and written out to the icon anyway?

The whole point of a database is to remove data redundancy, not increase the use of redundant data

It's a much better solution to leave the tooltypes where they are, and somewhere WAY down the line, allow the user to edit the icon tooltypes from the menu.

The most I am likely to include is some kind of very basic text editor that simply displays all of the tooltype info from the icon (including comments, etc.) and allows you to edit it. But if I'm honest I can see this never getting done

You mean KGLoad is on System, and you want it to access all of your games on your second partition?

If so, yes of course you can.

Just add GamePaths to your setup.ini file.

Add something like "GamePath=Games:" or whatever your second partition is called.

Only for completeness, you know as well as I do if you only cater for one side there is ALWAYS someone who wants to go the other way for some reason.

Awesome, glad to see it's working from a different partition, thanks for helping test it

@Slayer: I will look into adding some kind of "out of icon" settings. I do have a 'scripts' folder which my menu looks in before it runs a game to see if a custom script exists for the current game. I will most likely adjust this to allow custom tooltypes or something (down the line of course).

So thanks for your suggestions mate, don't be afraid to make any other suggestions!
