I received a bug report about Fate: Gates of Dawn IPF.
It turned out that as soon as you press some buttons senselessly during loading (when logo visible), the loading process gets stuck a little later. The same happens with the CLS crack. The FSN crack seems to fix the problem. This behavior with the CLS crack and IPF is confirmed on a real device. This is a bit annoying, as this is understood as a bug and can be quickly triggered by hotkeys. e.g. Alt + W for Warp is enough. In WinUAE, the loading process does not seem to be affected by this ? Maybe someone can check this again. ------------------- edit: this is interesting too: https://sourceforge.net/p/deniseemu/tickets/29/ ----------------- Quote:

Hi there, have not read the whole thread, so apologies if this is a known item.
Firstly, really enjoying the emulator, thanks for making it! Just tried a crt file of After the war on c64 and it shows the game select screen but then goes black and stays that way when you select either game, seen this on a few crt images of other stuff. Paul.. PS Using the latest nightly on Win 10 X64 |

Yes, there exist a working version of CityDemo on all pack disks mentioned on above link - see Contained In Packs! (except Flash Disk 056 - in that glitches) So there is no problem, there is nothing to solve. (and no need to panic) Only matters what happens on a real machine! (is it the same = no problem) (Tested config: A500 ECS 1.3 512+512) Btw. thanks for the new features added to Denise! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Megademo 2 - Sine Logo (Demo) by Alcatraz --> http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=1473 Alcatraz-Blitter works on A500 OCS 1.2/1.3 512+512! The demo writes to registers that do not exist in OCS and activates accidentally a programmable h-sync in ECS. The limit values required for this are also accidentally outside the standard. This causes the CRT to lose sync. Quote:

Loving the updates, is D81 on the list of additions, it's just that there's quite a few one disk conversions. If it's on the list then great, when is whenever you get to it, it's your time and energy, we need to appreciate that.
Plus its all for free...Seen too many demands over the numerous years I've been part of the scene on the Atari and Commodore. Thanks Paul.... |

Hi there,
Do you ever think you might add C64 SFX-expander cart emulation? If you think you might then you might want to check out what happens when the software for it loads. On a real machine it boots up and you can start using the cart. But so far all the emulators out there boot the software but then it starts playing a strange repeated set of random notes. Even with the cart emulation in Vice it does this. Hoxs64 and Denise also show it trying to play these notes but obviously without sound. If you have no plans for adding the cart then fine, but if you have some spare time I'd appreciate a look at the issue. I've reported it to the Vice team but no luck so far, I just wondered if another set of eyes might see something. Obviously it's only a hopeful request, I appreciate you do all this for free and have other priorities for you emulator, so if you can't or don't want to then its all good. Here's the software, I have different releases of it and both do the same. |

OPL2 emulation in VICE is an external library. I'm afraid that no one wants to deal with mistakes. Hopefully the original author hasn't lost interest. |

Well it's nice to hear that it's on the list, hopefully the issue with the random notes will get a look at by the team, it's just that it makes it almost impossible to use the emulated Synth.
Again, thanks for the reply.. |

Hi there, you know I asked re the SFX Expander YM cart, in the latest Denise release the software now loads and does not play (well show onscreen as there's no cart) those random notes.
Accidental fix or deliberate? Ie were you working on that issue or just an area in general, and it just happened to fix it? Would be great to pass on the fix to the Vice team (if possible) Whatever the answer, Denise is looking and sounding great, I look forward to what the future brings.. Thank you! Paul.. Many thanks.. Don't worry, found a string in the file, --help and bingo, a list of command line options.. PS, a bit of help trying to load a c64 config but it boots to Amiga Here's the command line E:\Commodore 64\denise\denise_win64_v2.0>denise -config-c64 C:\Users\mclan\AppData\Roaming\denise\settings\C64\Standard I have that and a DolphinDos cfg.. I'm doing something wrong, but what? Thank you... Last edited by Mclane; 19 October 2023 at 20:32. |

you are right. It simply loads the config, but the system that boots is in the global config, which cannot be passed via command line. The global config contains, among other things, the drivers used.
I'll rebuild it so that the system is booted, for which the config is overwritten by command line. |
