Also The Blues Brothers was a good platform game, but apart from that I'm struggling to think of any even average ones...

I found the Blues Brothers as boring/irritating as Titus The Fox, both massively over-hyped in Amiga Power (and all the other UK mags!). At least The Blues Brothers didn't have that awful loading system that Titus suffered from.

Yes yes, most of what you say would have been good for the Amiga. But...The only game I wanted to see on the Amiga was a finished version of Putty Squad. The one that got away..

I wanted Microprose to release Darklands on the Amiga. I bought my first PC to play that game. Darklands was a complex roleplaying game set in Medieval Germany. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it wasn't turn-based. Incidentally, does anyone have a list of turn-based Amiga games? UFO: Enemy Unknown (X-Com) and the AD&D (Dungeons & Dragons) games come to mind.......

A GOOD version of Super Street Fighter II (look at Shadow Fighter, Elfmania and Fightin' Spirit to see what the Amiga 500 is capable of, the A1200 could surely handle SSFII) and possibly Street Fighter Alpha 3, which might need an extra 2MB of RAM to run on an A1200, but is surely possible with a good programmer.

For Turrican: All Turrican games have 2-button support. Turrican 1 & 2 for energy lines and the wheel. Turrican 3 has even a joypad option for jumping. I want a second button for jumping in Turrican 1 & 2. I've asked Wepl & StingRay, maybe someday. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 23 August 2007 at 19:23. |
