This is what scares me. Demos are the part where WinUAE suffers the most, just ask Tony. Demo coders love to use undocumented and/or weird shit.

Besides, you could do a capture with a pro device (like the AJA, AD/DA conversor, straight into the computer through firewire)that takes component video. RGB would not be fuzzy at all, and making an Amiga component adapter shouldn't be that hard, the bloody machine is wired from factory with broadcast in mind!

That's a fact.

I am going to concentrate on demos as I am and always was a huge fan of the Amiga demo scene.

Bippy, did you find out what the problem on my Humantarget capture was? The avi that WinUAE created is just perfect, but somehow the conversion to mpeg went slightly wrong.

Will start converting some more Sanity and Melon Dezign masterpieces tonight.

Ok guys, good work thus far

Akira, the Demo's will look as authentic as possible, and if it aint upto scratch then it won't be used!

The biggest problem I have is with mpeg being a lossless compression, some of the demo's don't look brilliant after conversion!

Jan: Human Target looks fine on the TV! always try and watch them on TV through your tv-out

You mean "Lossy" not "Lossless". If it was lossless then we wouldn't have any problems

I'll try the following next:

Roots 2.0 / Sanity
Interference / Sanity
Nexus 7 / Andromeda
How 2 skin a cat / Melon Dezign (have to watch it first, can't remember if it's worth capturing)

Hope I don't fail.

All demos are worth capturing

Tho you might have problems with demos that require user input! (Like megademos!!)

I am still thinking about these!

but basically I am thinking of trying to recreate the megademo menu as a dvdmenu

That's a good point, didn't think about that before. I will check the demos first. If they need user input, then you'd better do the capturing.

megademos:

Here is how I plan to do it

Rip the Menu until it loops, rip the music separately if it loops differently

Encode the menu, and use it as a DVDMenu (Though I am not too sure about setting the controls up atm)

Encode each section separately, and then link them to the menu

Has anyone thought of doing a DVD cover sleeve for the case?

Might as well go all the way eh?

I still it would all be much better if the ywould be captured through component with a pro device like an AJA.

Anyway, how would you handle those demos where the music starts at the CLI and fades it to black? Show an ugly CLI window, or make a blackout of the CLI while listening to the music?
