Best games for Mattel Intellivision that I've never seen the likes of anywhere else
3. Vectron. Weird. Just weird. An almost completely abstract game. Far too hard, but otherwise atmospherically compelling just from a "what the hell is going on" point of view. I have been inspired lately by the idea of what I now call a "pure game" that contains no reference to reality whatsoever. [ Show youtube player ] 2. Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. The sheer tension that game managed to create with its limited graphics was unbelievable. [ Show youtube player ] What you don't hear on the video is the guy going "shit shit oh shit" as he runs away from stuff (although he is playing the easiest mountain there). The best bit is you can hear the bad guys before you can see them, so you know they're around somewhere. 1. Space Spartans. I imagine it could be done in Elite-style 3D. Also gets really really tense when you start getting in over your head. [ Show youtube player ] |

Master of Darkness - SMS
[ Show youtube player ] I like it more than Castlevania, despite the Master Systems not so great sound chip. |

On-Court Tennis has always been my favourite 8-Bit tennis game and I guess due to the slow speed of the game, Activision would have been able to do an Amiga port in one week. Even uncompiled Amos code should be fast enough.
I wonder why there had not been a lot more conversions of popular games back then. I'm sure Beach Head and some other classics would have sold pretty well and the effort for a conversion is significantly smaller than for a new product. |

Crazy Cones http://hol.abime.net/4807 is an interesting mix of Pac-Man and Battle City. You can use mines to destroy tanks and missiles to remove obstacles. Collect cones in correct order to gain more points - flashing one should be next.

I clearly remember in-game music from childhood but not gameplay. In which other game it was used? |
