Most Cinepak video is 8-12fps in 16 colours, based on Earoks work converting Road Avenger into CDXL video, it could archive the same screen size and fps but with more colours (HAM8) than the Mega-CD version, or 50% faster with a smaller window in HAM6 (i wonder what speed CDXL video in 16 colours could get?!)
But anyway 12fps was used on MDM on Mega-CD so that would be the target fps if anything became of this work and it needed converting. |

#1) issue was mentioned in the 4DO forum - but since then no update of the emulator #2) 3DO Commander can extract the content of the game iso. it wants a msvbvm50.dll - download the zip in the lower right corner - not the BIG DOWNLOAD buttons. #3) 3DOResExplorer can play (extract to bmp) the video files of the 3DO disk #4) so we can extract the video to bmp and build an avi from the extrcated images in the correct order - anyone? I struggle with the bmp sequence to bake an avi with ffmpeg - stuck on wrong syntax ^^ its about "argument list too long" globbing is not enabled in my ffmpeg build. hmmm example: ffmpeg -f image2 -pattern_type glob -framerate 12 -i 'foo-*.jpeg' -s WxH foo.avi #1) ffmpeg does not recognise the 3do files, would be good to have something which can convert them on the fly. header of such a scenario file attached. with the extracted bmp we do not have sound. ^^^ ZStream Chunks Reader converts the Scenario files into avi files with sound. bit buggy. but works Last edited by emufan; 28 November 2016 at 21:59. |

I have converted the Mad Dog files from Daphne Singe. Only problem now is getting the game going. The output seems to be switching on/off repeatedly and getting nowhere. Going into the service menu I can kick start the video by going into f12 menu and closing again and then the video will just stream from start to finish. Going back into game mode its back to the on/off blackscreen repeatedly.
I will keep chipping away as I have some audio desync to at a couple of points to sort out. |

I have followed Earok instructions: I can get Mad Dog running but cannot get the full game to work: it seems I only have access to some mini games (like shooting bottles, etc..): is the full game supposed to work this way ?

Gallagher's Gallery or Mad Dog? if it is Mad Dog - which video file are you using?
Gallagher's Gallery comes with those 4 sub games only - at least what i discovered myself. |

ahh, ok
we need the video file for Mad Dog - so we can see how it works. without the corresponding videos, it's hard to see if there are some glitches with the game roms. |

I have a video done for mad-dog taken from a dvd source I guess for daphe singe. Thegame doesn't even get started. Maybe the video isn't long enough and its trying to seek to non existent data. It stands to reason that any version other than the original laserdisc is not going to have the exact same video layout/length. So even with the files from cdi/segacd/3do/ps3/dvd I'm not sure how you would go about rebuilding the video stream to match the exact laserdisc that the rom expects. Currently a 13gig avi as I cant get winuae to play any other format even with avisynth. (also a 1gb mpeg2 file).
As I wrote above, so far the video stream is only playing from start to finish in service mode and only then the video starts when I press f12 and close the gui. Last edited by Mad-Matt; 08 December 2016 at 19:04. |

13 gb - but the quality is great
you can try the k-lite codec pack to solve the codec problem. i'm sure it is not a video file issue. it's about the rom. maybe we need a different a500 setup - more ram, more chip - or some problem, toni may fix. since you can use any video (convert to ntsc) with Gallagher's Gallery setup and the game still works, i'm sure its about some incompatibility with Mad Dog rom(s). did you tested all rom versions? maybe try change the a500 setup a bit. #1) ive tested again with a 40 mins video instead of the Gallagher (27 mins) video. do not push any button after game start - just watch the "intro" sequence. after a while video freezes, skips to some frames - end title / best player list - i think it shows some still images. later it restarts the video - while still in the intro sequence. Game won't notice anything if video file is at least same or larger than original. Unless it by purpose tries to seek out of bounds and expects error return from LD drive.
You can also try without video (genlock not in LD mode), in this mode winuae internally increments frame counter in play mode, from game point of view it thinks LD is playing normally. Anyway, as usual, check the log for possible video errors/messages. |

I hope to see running Mad Dog McCree like Gallagher's Gallery on WinUAE.
