March Quiz - Clues #1

Halfway through the month I want to offer you some help. So far thirty people are playing, of which no one is from this forum. Will a few more people join in the remaining two weeks? I wish you a nice weekend, hopefully with enough time to take part!

So, here are the clues #1:

1) Game 12 is a famous JRPG.
2) The 16 is the only fighting game in this round.
3) In picture 3 you are just deciding on the faction of a well-known RTS game.
4) If you like 2D platformers, you should check out number 1, 6 and 8.

Closing date is Thursday March 31st, participation via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz again, good luck: https://i.imgur.com/CJr431c.png

March Quiz - Clues #2

Aaaand here it is already, the last weekend of March. One last time there's help from me - but then you're on your own for the last couple days.
The number of players has risen to over fifty, including two from this forum. Let's go!

Here are the final clues:

1) In game 7 you have to sneak and steal stuff.
2) Title 18 has been released on the Neo Geo.
3) Number 4 is a sci fi motorbike racing game. How many of these are there actually?
4) Game 11 is not from Sega!

Deadline is Thursday 31st of March, enter via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/.

Here's the quiz one last time, good luck: https://i.imgur.com/CJr431c.png

Then again, most people from here haven't even joined this round yet. Folks, you only have two more days!

Just discovered I had one of the games in the wrong place!

11 is doing my head in!!! It could be a multitude of games and Sega had been my first guess...

March Quiz - Answers & High Score

Oh what a riddle! Oh what a secret! A mystery of the very special kind! What was the topic of the last round? Less than half of you had guessed it correctly...

Let's go back to the past. About two years ago I asked you in the bonus question about your "best gaming year", eighty people had voted then and delivered a very clear result:

Accordingly, I've been wanting to do a round on this topic for a while. And since we set a new record with 127 players, I consider the experiment a success. Thanks to all who took part!

Now you'll get the results... first the names of the games as text, then the pictures, then the award ceremony.

1) Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
Answer rate: 91%
Other suggestions: Goblin Platformer

2) Grim Fandango.
The easiest game of this round... only Snake, PUH and ToniLustig couldn't match the lady. What happened there?

Armikrog and Neverhood do not fit the 'Theme'
So not worthy of a full point.

You were too kind

Well done Nobby!

Wasn't 100% certain of the theme as not sure all games came out in 1998 but most seemed to!

Colin McRae Rally -bah humbug!

And I didn't even get Resident Evil 2 (shame on me)...

Well done Nobby!

That was indeed a tough one. Again, can't really complain about my 17 point haul. The ones I didn't know I wouldn't have got without a lot more time to search. Maybe if I'd figured out the theme that would have helped.

I should have got Resident Evil 2 though. My gut was saying it was Resident Evil but a quick search didn't provide any validation. The lesson is to never leave an answer blank!

Might have got the Shmup --
If I thought it was an Amiga game

Yeah, I thought:
Resident Evil ? Tyrant ?
Could not see an exact match
But went for it anyway

April Quiz - Fruits & Vegetables

This month I've had my hands full in my personal life and didn't finish my planned quiz.... Annoying, but luckily I always have another one up my sleeve! Accordingly, this time it's about healthy eating, er I mean fruits & vegetables.

Whether it's simple fruit bonuses in arcade games, or talking vegetables with arms and legs from modern titles - it's once again up to you to figure out all the games.

No bonus points this round, but after being asked if the "gender & race" mix of the last intro gif was representative.... (no it wasn't, it was randomly selected!) ...I'll just ask you guys now to check. If you don't want to you don't have to, it's completely optional.

Deadline is Saturday the 30th of April, participation via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/.

Here comes the quiz, have fun:
