Soldering station plus other equipment, that finally allow me to fix cables, old half-working joystick and other electronic stuff.

Soldering only, or even desoldering?

I would recommend that if you buy one you pay extra for one with a known working SIMM as I have been unable to get mine to work with any 16Mbyte SIMMS that I own.

You should also know that DJBase's card uses angled SIMM connectors which when fitted prevents the floppy disk drive metal sheilding being replaced.

Turns out that the 16Mbyte SIMM must have 8 * 4Mx4 chips to work and _not_ 8 * 2Mx8. Unfortunately the vast majority of mine are 2Mx8.

I've found one compatible one... now I need to find another

Well yesterday a bought a 100Mhz Rigol Scope, Well no i didnt, really i have only got the 50Mhz version the DS1052E , but i hacked the scopes serial number and model number and now it runs just like the more expensive ds1102E. Its now has the full bandwidth of 100Mhz. Very simple to do.

If you want a cheep 100Mhz scope id say grab a DS1052E now before Rigol get wise to this and modify the firmware or hardware to stop this. The boards for both scopes are the same, it was just the software that was holding it back. If you want more info on this, check out the EEVBlog forums. Hack a day also posted this but they were a little too fast to publish. As the hardware hack they show, only opens the bandwidth of the scope, so software is still limited by the mod shown there. If you do the soft mod it changes everything. ie the bandwidth is now open and the time base can now go down to 2nS.

Buying this scope saved me a lot of dosh.

If you like i will post a how to.

@ZETRO, NOW ITS TIME FOR YOU TO BUY THAT SCOPE!!!!

Nice but did you pay anywhere near the RRP of $550? 1Mbyte capture RAM sounds awfully small. My logic analyser has some oscilloscope functions but it is not particularly good.

My old analog Tektronix 465b 100MHz 2-channel scope (cost £10 at a car boot) was pretty good and work used to recalibrated it for me if I took it in when they were doing all the others. Not seen it since the last house move It must be underneath something.

Resident Evil 5
Gears of War 2
Afro Samurai

Well i paid around £230 inc postage, i posted in the thread some time ago, can't remember exactly when, but i gave the price then. I still have a 400Mhz HP scope but its just not as portable as the Rigol, Thats one of its benefits the rigol is only 2.5kg as opposed to 10.5 kg for the tek you have. I use the scope as a scope and the LA as the LA it works better that way and i dont have to worry too much about the Memory of the scope. in fact 1Mb is ample for the scope.

This for 12 quid at my local Gamestation. It's minty (never ignore the window displays).

I now have both Ltd Ed Fallout 3 packs.
