I don't think nobody even buys TPC stuff anymore anyway so I think they should give up and make it freely available in the TOSEC now anyway if it does have trouble selling.

It is up to TPC at the end of the day though only he knows the true numbers of the sales for TPC's and if I'm right or wrong about this.

Mr. TPC can FTP them himself if he decides to let them go free to play though as it's part of the terms that we underground outsiders can't upload them.

Who has the time to check every single directory / file... I guess AndreasM does
I could tell you stories of the past concerning that name.

Oh trust me I know a few myself (especially when I was a Global Moderator)

Anyway; obviously with the AmigaCD / RTG releases of course protect your copyright as these may possibly still get purchased... but with the old .ADF releases?

I've made some changes to test. There are a lot of crap in the ~Uploads folder and people still upload stuff that should not be here.

So, anonymous users can no longer see the ~Uploads folder. You can also only download from your own ~Uploads folder.

In order for other people to be able to download what you upload, you must put a message here for what you have uploaded and where it should be moved in the structure outside of ~Uploads. This puts more responsibility for the uploader. You must know where it should go when you upload things.

This should solve the problem of all the crap in the ~Uploads folders that people never find. Plus, it has been the rules since the beginning to put a message here when you upload something (see OP).
Anyone object or have a better solution? Anyone willing to go through the ~Uploads folder and sort stuff out?

Thinking of just wiping everything in ~Uploads in 6 months time or something, if it has not been moved out.

Hello there Turran,

I hear what you're saying; it must be a nightmare to administer this area

Just taken a look at my /~Uploads/DamienD folder:

...all quite self-explanatory; not really sure where to suggest moving stuff too

We'll let it run for a day or so and see what people think. Perhaps they all like the mess in there =)
What we'd really need is a few moderators that can actively go through and move stuff. Would not be such a big job after the initial cleanup (which would be hell).

Could you move the GameBase Amiga dir out of uploads and put it in the root of the Amiga dir, as for the unknown exes, probably Amiga > Misc?

Took it one step further. You can now only see your own folder in ~Uploads.

Not being funny but what's the point in that?

I only uploaded stuff to my ~Upload folder for other users' to gain access to e.g. "NON-TOSEC [20-02-2016]"...

This isn't for my own good, of course I already have access for myself from my hard drives...

I really hope these changes haven't come about due to a "certain user" who always complains / asks you to remove files?

Not a fan of this move, If I want to store stuff that only I can see then I'll use an external drive

However, you can move my stuff to /Commodore_Amiga/CD/CD32 or if it breaks any rules then delete it.

EDIT: Looks like my folders already gone. I can't even see the Uploads folder anymore

"Not being funny but what's the point in that?".

The point being that you should get your uploads approved and sorted before anyone can download it.

Nothing is gone, just hidden.

I can put everything back. I just thought I'd provoke everything to get their stuff where they should be instead of all over the upload folders.

The original meaning of the uploads folder was to let people upload stuff that would then be sorted on the FTP so people could find it, not so you could store duplicate files that nobody ever see.

But, since you do agree and want it to be a bloody mess, I'll put it back the way it was, messy and all.

After all, I just host it, so I don't really care whats on it, but I've been PMd more and more on copyrighted stuff and been threatened with legal actions etc, so I figured I would force you to put a message here after stuff had been uploaded so it could be approved and sorted correctly. If it continues with the copyrighted threats, you'll have to find someone else to host it.

Putting it back then. The mess is yours =)

people who want hide their stuff, should not upload to the ftp.

The point was that you should let us know in this thread where, outside of the ~Uploads folder you wanted it moved. But yeah, bad idea I guess.

Their problem is that copyrighted material is being uploaded. The name has been quoted several times here already (every time I delete something).

Yes, I find it extremely silly to complain about old Amiga software that nobody is going to pay for anyway, but hes in his full right to complain and demand it to be removed.

Ok, i understand, but this leads to a side-effect

What about stuff is not sorted and moved to the right place ?

It would be hidden forever and that's the problem .-(
No it would not. You could still see and access your own upload folder. Decide where it should go and post here =) The first page of this thread, in the rules, even say that you should post here every time you upload something. That rule has been there even from before I took over hosting.

One upload folder would be equally messy. Just look at the "TheZone" folder =) It should be sorted by a FTP moderator if you will. But nobody would want that job so..

we (I) dont want to see you run into trouble - thats not worth it.
if you hide uploads in near future again - due to complains - I let you know where to move it.
