What would be the point/purpose of a 2mb board. I did consider the option of making the board configurable to 0, 1.5, 4, 5.5 and 8mb but i thought that there was no reason to offer other than the 4/8mb boards. edit: are you referring to chip or fastmem ? I have about 15 more boards ready to mail so i will be going through the lists (in chronological order) and send out requests for payments. |

Reading his message, I assume he is referring to chip mem.

Got mine today, thanks. I can't find the pictures for the A2000 again though. Figured I want it in that one instead of the A500 =)
Edit: Found it: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=71542 Now for some more questions... I'm still using the top connection for the cable in an A2000 (will solder it to the side later) but which cable is which? Do I need this cable for the memory only? Currently it boots up fine (KS 3.1) on floppy but shows no extra memory. Would it if I put the cable wrong? Both red and green light is constantly lit. No CF card in it yet. Edit: ok, had the cables the wrong way around (Used the colors from your pictures. Was the other way =) White on 17, orange on 19. It now boots but gives software failure pretty much instantly. 8000 0002 Task 002032A0 Board 4369 Product 17 shows as working (no other cards installed) Last edited by Turran; 02 December 2013 at 20:53. |

Are you getting software failures with or without CF card?
I was getting software failures (8000 0003) with two CF cards I tried. Both were working fine in my stock A1200. Then I read in somebody's guide that you cannot use SFS on 68000 system. This turned out to be correct as both cards used SFS. I found old 512MB CF card and installed FFS on it. Needless to say, it works fine and I am no longer getting software failures. Hope this helps. |

Even without CF card I get it. CF is otherwise formatted with PFS3-AIO and should work.. I'll try FFS for fun tonight, but I still get no memory from it.
Edit: Same thing with a 100MB FFS partition with WB 3.1. If I remove the CF card, it looks for it until timing out, gives software failure and then shows kickstart image. Going into early boot shows card as "working". If I also remove the cables, it does not wait for the timout of the IDE and almost instantly software failures, then showing kickstart image. Edit2: Pressed really hard on the CPU and managed to see 8MB memory for a few seconds before it software failured again. Tried removing everything and cleaned it up with IPA and a toothbrush really good, but no go. Bad contact somewhere. Testing in a an A500 now instead. This A2000 always showed a red image for a second before showing the kickstart image. Never managed to get rid of that but could be something else wrong with it I guess. Edit3: Yeah, works just fine in an A500, with PFS3-AIO... Too bad for me =( I did have to use both of the adapters to get the card high enough as it otherwise hits a cap that was pushed all the way down, so it could not be bent out of the way. Do not know if that was intended but fits just fine =) I can always replace the cap but it seems everything closes nicely. Put a little heatsink on the CPU so that the keyboard helps holding it in place. Already had holes in the motherboard where the little 2pin connector sits, so it was an easy task to just solder it in place. Last edited by Turran; 03 December 2013 at 20:14. |

What version Mobo for the a2000, I believe the slots in all mobo revisions are the same. Try removing all addons and see if that helps. If there is a memory conflict then that could be the cause in the a2000. For the A500 there are some caps that have been soldered upright and may get in the way. I had one of mine in that position. I was too lazy to remove the mobo from the casing so i just rocked the capacitor until the pins broke and then just soldered a replacement (on its side) on the now empty pads on the motherboard. I am not suggesting you do it this way. The correct way is not to be lazy, remove the board and use a soldering iron to remove it correctly. |
