Just tried the low latency Vsync on my P4 3.2g with Geforce7800 and got a huge FPS hit.

Is this expected per my spec?

Oh, latest DX (June) and latest Geforce drivers..

Edit to add info:

FPS went from 50 to 37

Snd: -172

same with cycle exact on or off

No buffering used and in quickstart a500 mode....

And priority set to lower than normal, Win 7 32 bit

EDIT: To add log files

I Also as advised turned Vsync off for Winuae in the Nvidia panel.

Both logs files needed as usual..

EDIT: Make sure any display driver forced vsync option is disabled.

Beta 7: (final in next few days, maybe)

- do not misdetect standard adf images that have small amount of garbage data appended at the end of file
- forgotten experimental code removed. (b1, broke Sequential 18Frames! part)
- ECS superhires sprite color fixed (Didn't handle "color scrambling")

Hi Toni,

I noticed this behaviour in the "last" releases of WinUAE (I don't know from which release on, I should investigate):

when the emulated Amiga (A500, quick config) is loading data from floppy (any adf), if I press F12 (opening the Properties window) and then return to the emulation then the floppy causes a read/write error and the loading cannot proceed.

This didn't happen in the past (again, I don't remember the last release when it "worked"): with old releases I could enter the Properties window, change some configs, then return to the emulation and the loading would happily continue...
This isn't possible anymore... why? Am I doing something wrong?

Cycle exact only or all other A500 quickstart modes too?

Low latency VSync is so great... It works fine with my two personal benchmarks: Speedball 2 on A500 Quickstart (1.3 ROM, OCS, 512 KB Chip + 512 KB Slow RAM) and SWOS '96/'97 on A1200 Quickstart (4 MB Fast RAM expanded configuration).

I'm just paypalling you!

Booted wb1.3, pressed F12 and ESC multiple times. Nothing interesting happened, loading continued normally. A500 quickstart cycle exact.

How strange... I re-tested now the two latest betas and it happens randomly but not so often as in the past...
I remember it happened to me _almost every time_ I pressed F12 and ESC...

Toni,

Re the Low Latency Vsync frames loss.

Here's the complete logs, I have no idea why the other one was cut short.

Thanks for looking..

My specs are in posts #102 in this thread...

EDIT: No Anti virus or firewalls running when tried..

EDIT 2: Added new set of logs because time stamps were different on them, so just incase redid the test.

That log does not have low latency vsync mode enabled or you have something wrong configured in Display panel refresh rate setup (checkbox should not be checked normally)

Still nothing about low latency vsync rate detection in logs. Attach your configuration file.

Aha Toni...

Yes Id ticked the FPS box to Pal 50 because that was the only way I could get the correct FPS, the default Hz if 75 on my monitor, even if I set it to PAL or NTSC the game still plays at 75.021 fps unless I tick that box to lock it to 50fps..

My monitor only does 60 and 75hz..

Config..

Vsync = use monitor's refresh rate. There is no way around it. Works as designed. Buy a better PC!

EDIT:

Ticking the box = forced refresh rate selection (for example if display driver reports it badly or autodetect does not work)

If you get smooth scrolling and low input latency but 60Hz refresh rate without the box: everything works correctly.

So the best I can do for super smooth scroll is set the refresh to 60Hz for the monitor and plays as NTSC?

Got a spare good PC Toni

I only have one good PC because old one immediately becomes very bad when I buy a new good one!

Seriously, only guaranteed way to get 50Hz support today is to get a HD/HD ready monitor or TV with HDMI connector(s). (Note that you must use HDMI connector, other ports may not support 50Hz for some strange reason..).

I did some testing yesterday.
I was using WinUAE with minimal windowed style so I wasn't seeing SND*, CPU, FPS, etc. etc.
Well, with Low latency VSync on I get abnormal (I think) SND values: from -60%/-70% to +80%. However there are no problems, apparently.

* Honestly, I don't understand what SND shows. ^_^'
