Yeah, garbled sound in the intro, the intro not starting or partly playing, the cut scenes not playing...

...but I think the wonderful work wairnair has done is the best we are going to get on the Amiga

Both games are very cool indeed.

Yes, a real shame that these versions weren't released on the Amiga and porting them would be an absolute mission

Just as an FYI; for anyone that wants to try these in my collection...

You guys know that I like single game archives, so have adapted wairnair's file from The Zone!:
ShapeShifterPOP_CD32.zip [Prince of Persion 1&2 Mac version using ShapeShifter. WinUAE hdf]
...to be single .HDFs loading each game separately (with title / screenshots), grab these from The Zone!
Prince of Persia MAC.rar [...for use in DamienD's WinUAE Collection]
Prince of Persia 2 MAC.rar [...for use in DamienD's WinUAE Collection]
Again great work wairnair

I hope you're ok with me doing the above? If not I'll remove.

Pretty easy, just watch the video I posted here:

Once on the 2nd stage, you cross the stones and enter the cave; this is when the protection check kicks in.
Save state in The Zone! along with archives containing the configuration files and .HDFs

Don't know if it's worth the trouble though; only if you can be bothered. Same could be said for POP...

Are the games any Quicker started from ClassicWB, i.e does Fblit make a difference to ShapeShifter? Fblit use to make a difference to a few OS friendly things like Amos, Sim City 2000.....

...one thing I was just thinking about. I know that you used "Mac OS 7.5.5" for this.

POP2 says that it will run on "System 7.1".

I wonder if running from this version of Mac OS is less intensive via ShapeShifter than "7.5.5"; and might improve things with the game?

Is Shapeshifter and the Apple ROMS not predone in a HDF somewhere so I don't have to ballache and configure it myself?

P.s. i'm lazy!

Just use these files that I put in The Zone!
  • Prince of Persia MAC.rar [...for use in DamienD's WinUAE Collection]
  • Prince of Persia 2 MAC.rar [...for use in DamienD's WinUAE Collection]
  • Prince of Persia 2 MAC_Protection.rar [...for Galahad]
Extract to your WinUAE directory and you're good to go

...but you may need to possibly change file locations / point to where you store your ROMs, which is easily done

I haven't noticed any difference back when I tried different hacks on an A1200. Blazewcp, fblit, maprom stuff.. You need a beefier cpu and/or graphics card to really speed things up on real hw..
I can put fblit in there nevertheless, can only make it better I guess.

Worth a try. May be more compatible even?

Edit: I realized I only have 7.0.1 (from Retro1234's hdf in the Zone).
Anyone have a working (possibly lean) hvf of system 7.1?

Playing around like I usually do

...seems setting a 68040 CPU resolves most issues i.e. doesn't freeze as often, intro plays virtually everytime and even gets to / past the title screen (as you can see below from the screenshot taken), and then onto the next cutscene before level 1 starts.

Ok, not such good news for "TF330" users; but for people that emulate

This file has now been updated in The Zone!
Prince of Persia 2 MAC.rar [...for use in DamienD's WinUAE Collection]

I tried it with that HDF I uploaded with System 7.? But complained sound driver was missing.

Would a different MAC Rom make a difference, Cammy's guide recommended different Roms for different CPUs

I've put FBlit in startup. POP1 seems to be a bit faster *cough*, placebo?

Also, from FBlit's guide: "Currently, FBlit will not generate any form of error output. If it fails to install, it will do so silently.".
How do I know if it's running?

***

Blackthorne said it had quit because "an error of type 15 occured".

Got it from here https://www.macintoshrepository.org/5451-blackthorne

***

added a new hdf in the zone, if anyone wants to look/knows more

I played Blackthorne back in the day on my SNES; very cool game

...is it any better on a Mac though compared with the SNES version; I can't find any "Mac" YouTube videos?
