Good luck Musashi5150!!!
Would it also be possible to transfer the data via a A570 CD-Rom, which was developed for the A500? Do you know if this CD-Rom supports the same standards like a CDTV-CD-Rom? My oldest CD-Rom is a Mitsumi Triple-Speed and this couldn`t read the Video-Tracks.
Another question. AFAIK you need a copy of the newspaper to solve this game. Has anyone a copy of the 3 pieces of newspaper? Thanks.

Bye

We have a good b/w scanner at work... if the newspaper is not colour I'll be happy to scan it.

It may be possible to use an A570, but I don't have one. I was going to use a real CDTV to read the data from the CDROM over a link cable to another machine with a HD. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the video tracks...

Which is why you guys are here to think of a solution

The newspaper is b/w, for an image see here: http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/gameG...yID=1997&pos=1

For imaging, as I wrote to you, I would suggest trying to image the tracks with MakeCD and then use a program that creates a cue sheet out of the iso and wav files

Sounds like a MUCH better idea yes, since the data track isn't the one making trouble. You can read the data files just fine from the image. But if there was a way to image the tracks separately it would even be possible to make a cue sheet on the PC side.

Sounds like an idea... I'll have to use MakeCD on the A4000 though as my CDTV doesn't have a HD. Is MakeCD free? Because I don't have it...

You don't even need to register MakeCD for imaging the 6 tracks. And you could burn it to a CD and then use it on the CDTV.

I could, but with 1mb RAM and no HD where would I image the CD tracks to?

You can mount your HD on the other computer within sernet, so it appears in the mountlist of your CDTV

I don't have any first hand experience from trying but I think I've read that you can use a CD32 as a CD-ROM device for another Amiga (except I don't know why you'd want to in more cases than THIS because it's not a very good optical device really). This ought to be possible with a CDTV as well or am I completely wrong about this? In that case the CD32/CDTV would be mounted on the other Amiga (instead of mounting the HD on the CDTV). But, again, I am not sure if this works or not - or which side is better to work with MakeCD on. All I know is that this has GOT to work some way or the other... Please keep us posted and let us know how you're doing once the disc has arrived, musashi I'm sure we'll work it out.

thor's disc arrived yesterday and has failed to be imaged by: CloneCD, Nero, DiscJuggler, Infinadyne Inspector and Alcohol 120% on the PC.

It has also failed to be imaged by MakeCD running on my A4000.

So I will dig out my 68030 CD32 in the next day or so and try it on that (that's if MakeCD even supports cd.device).

As you said fisken uno it's videotracks 2,3,4 that fail the imaging - datatrack 1 and audiotracks 5,6 are fine.

I have now tried the game on my real CDTV and CD32 systems. The game plays fine and shows the video tracks perfectly on my CDTV. The CD32 booted, but got stuck when playing the video tracks.

Conclusion: A real CDTV is the only thing capable of imaging this disc.

Now I will need to find my null-modem cable and hope that MakeCD works on OS1.3

If that fails my last resort is to try and write a small program in C/Assembler that will use cdtv.device to dump the raw tracks over a serial link to another system.

But lets hope that CDTV can run MakeCD...

EDIT: Cable found... it was hiding at the back of my Atari ST

No chance, MakeCD requires IMHO min. Kickstart 2.x

I tend to agree with you there. I don't think there is any way on Earth that it's going to work with 1.3 And even if someone had a nice 3.1 upgraded CDTV there is still the problem that MakeCD probably won't work with cdtv.device...

Bugger... what to do...

The only remaining hope then is to try and create some kind of custom dumping software. And even that has to be able to dump via a serial cable to another machine...

I'll start looking into it, but if any of the elites want to ReSource the animplayer of the game I can make the files available... ?

@musashi5150:

You're right it wont work with the cdtv.device.

It could be possible on a CDTV like my CDTV to burn CD's with MakeCD on CDTV, because I have a Kickswitch (1.3, 2.05 and 3.1) and a SCSI-Controller. So I could use an external CD-burner with an other device.
But my CDTV only have the problem, there's to less RAM, only the original 1 MB :-(
I'm already search for a working RAM expansion.

I think I might be getting somewhere with this But I now need to get SERNET up and running so my CDTV can dump to another Amigas hardrive.

If any of you have experience of getting a working SERNET system up (or could even provide me with 2 x bootable floppy) now is the time to come forward
