A lot of incredible games in 1 disc !
Without thinking and just following immediatly what tells my mind, i would say Pang PAL, Snow bros (the fixed Galahad version in 1 disc is incredible), Turrican 2, B.C Kid, Speedball 2, IK+, Z-out, Arkanoid PAL, Battle squadron PAL, Kick off 2 competition version, Defender by Ratsoft, Prince of persia, Zarathrustra, Rodland, Robocod (an exploit to fit all in 1 disc, and all loads in 1 time only, so it is like a cartridge game !!!).

And what about PTC? I would challenge anyone to come up with a better centipede clone - and the music is just sublime.

Both games are one-disk affairs.
Superior Software the kings of the acorn electron and bbc micro published Bonecruncher. The electron was my games machine until i got my amiga 500 in about 1990.

So many great games from Superior.

I only ever played a cracked version, pretty sure it only came on one disk. I honestly can't say which is the best (i.e. most fun to play) one disk game as there are so many to choose from. But for best (i.e. most technically impressive) one disk game I also vote for Frontier. With every single star in the milky way galaxy represented how did David Braben fit all that information on a single disk? Did he use some kind of procedural generation like Antony Crowther used for the levels in Captive?

Come to think of it perhaps my vote for best one disk game should go to Captive. IMO it's one of the best classic dungeon master style RPG's. There's certainly a LOT of gameplay to be had with theoretically 65,535 levels, although I understand a bug in the level generation causes a mission to be uncompleteable at some point FAR into the game. Needless to say I never hit this wall, although I think I gave up playing after rescuing the Trill (the "Captive") about five times.

The core systems were hardcoded (earth, Lave etc) along with most of the visible stars in our night sky. The rest of them were named and placed procedurally with a (very) rough spiral galaxy algorithm. Aside from that handful of real - and those taken from the original Elite - stars, none of the rest of them actually exist.

It was a bloody incredible feat, one has to admit that.

Ok, I've decided to update the list posted by iddqd with the votes after his post:

In the following list I'm going to add my preferences that are: "Prince of Persia", "Stunt Car Racer", "Lotus 2" (my favorite is the first one, actually, but I vote for the sequel since it has the full-screen single player mode), "Dynablaster", "IK +", "North & South" and "PP Hammer" ... there are honestly too many to list ...

I don't think I've voted. I would love to say Turrican II But my heart goes to Dungeon Master.

You can vote for more than one game... feel free to copy and paste the list adding your choice(s)... I think that it is great to have the list up to date, I'm going to try a few titles listed above that I had never heard about before... only Amiga makes it possible (even in 2017!!!).

What about X-Copy & Cyclone? You just needed a 'Save' disk!

Silkworm was a pretty fun single disk game, better than the arcade game it was ported from. Good 2 player memories

I'm really surprised so many people have voted Frontier. I found it really hard work. It just wasn't any fun!
