Megatraveller 2: Quest For The Ancients uses manual protection just like Megatraveller 1!

"Elvira: Mistress of the Dark"
Not sure if you include this type or not, but my version has one of those red filter lenses to read the book of spells. Which is rather needed to progress in the game. Elvira will also ask pointed questions about spell recipes at some point (IIRC.) Been a while since I've played it, and it happens after you've been playing for a while. "The Bard's Tale: Tales of the Unknown" The Review board will ask questions which require referring to the city map to answer in order to let you advance in levels. This happens the first time you try to advance each time the game is loaded. IIRC, there are also a few puzzles that refer to specific items on the map as well. May not count, as it's rather easy to build this yourself with some graph paper and a bit of patience. "Empire: Wargame of the Century" & "Star Fleet I: The War Begins." Manual lookup. These can be a bit frustrating, as the manuals are different for different releases of the game. My PC manual for "Empire" (for example,) will not have the same answers as my Amiga manual. Can't check with "Star Fleet I" as I only have the Amiga version of that game. "Starglider" Lookup word in novella "Chrono Quest" Has a grid overlay for the box cover. Look up a grid reference (Letter, Number) and give the major color shown in that box. "Ultima VI: The False Prophet" At the start of the game, Lord British asks some questions about information in the manuals. This is on the PC version, though I believe it also happens on the other versions as well. Since I've been going through my games, I'm rather certain about those. Elvira may not count, as it "may" be possible to finish the game without ever having a potion/spell crafted for you, and I'm unsure if you are quizzed on it or not. |

Add Operation Spruance: The Naval Warfare Simulation to the list as this uses manual protection! You have to identify a 3D model from the manual and type in its name!

Oil Imperium (EU Name) / Black Gold (US Name) - Both need a 2 digit code from the manual. Don't confuse Black Gold US release with the German game 'Black Gold' by StarByte! |

Gulp ECS version has protection codes. CD32 version hasn't.
Should we mention games with code protection AND physical protection? Fire & Ice and First Samurai both have RN copylock + manual protection after completing level 1. And yes this thread is interesting, because sometimes protection codes don't happen right away, but after one level (a classic) |

I think in the games I mention I did put if the disk was protected. Also, some protections kick in after loading a save game, a few Level 9 games did this!

Dyter-07 also has a protection; it requests a colored 3x3 matrix after completing level 1.

thank you for this list, is helping me a lot atm
other games that use passwords/codes are : Bomber Bob - the graphic symbols are in the back of the game poster Chrono Quest - ? Dragon Fighter - ? Suspicious Cargo - Manual about Chrono Quest and Dragon Fighter, someone knows if the codes can be found, already listed maybe? seems not in the manuals, both Chrono Quest needs some thing to be applied to the front gamebox image, that change the colors? |
