Even playing normally can result in crashes where the Amiga has to be reset. I did have a version running from fast mem, and it was considerably faster, but it was also more buggy. Championship Manager is essentially a database program, and its prone to what are called cascade failures. A small bug that starts off in one season, can get magnitudes bigger and more dangerous the longer its able to continue, eventually crashing the system. In all honesty, and with the level of power available to Amiga owners and emulations of Amiga, a complete rewrite would be a better idea, which also means all the extra stuff left out from the PC version could also be put back in. But I won't touch this game further, i would consider it if I could get ahold of the source code to it (Hey JOTD, you were in contact with them!), that way at least it could be fixed better, but I won't touch it otherwise. And to be honest, my last HD installer for CM2 was bugged, and yet was only recently discovered what the bug was, which shows just how unpopular a game on Amiga it is. its not worth my time. |

Galahad, do you still have the fast ram version ? I'd be happy to give it a go.
Honestly speaking the game itself is very good when you don't consider it's speed. I think it's unpopularity is most;y due to the fact how slow it is progressing. I'm currently testing it on A500 with V500II+ with Core 2.12 x12. The menus are more responsive than 060 , but the progress is as slow as ever. And yeah it works on OCS. |

Why you want WHDLoad when you can install on HD and exploit faster Amiga?

Being the 10th most popular thread in " Games images which need to be WHDified" could be a good reason. I'd guess bug fixes, stability, convenience among many other reasons. There are plenty of Amiga games which have HD Installs but also have WHDLoad installs. I don't see a problem with people requesting this. |
