Here's my LCD third button GoTek mod on my TI-99/4a PEB. The third button is on that middle discolored strip top button. See the light leaks around all those displays (3 of them are temp probes) - Yeah, me not so good with dremel.

That looks great! Good job.
How did you match the case color? |

Good topic. I am trying to figure out a good way to permanently add a GOTEK to my A3000 without destroying the face plate. I have it connected externally right now off the back, but would love to replace my one existing bad floppy slots with a GOTEK.

Hi, I modified my earlier gotek mounting bracket to now have a second USB-connector positioned where the floppy drive eject button normally goes on the A500. I'm using this jack to have the OLED-display there so using custom-pinout that matches the display i2c-pinout. It's only a matter of connecting the fly-leads correctly to the pin-header. Updated 3D-files (source, stl, step-files) available on my github for those who have a 3D-printer and wants to do the same. The usb-connector on PCB can be found on AliExpress/Amazon etc and cost peanuts.

Looks nice but I give it 3m before it's snapped off by accident

I de-soldered and changed to another shorter type of usb-plug and updated the design of the 3D-printable lcd cover. Looks nicer:

I don't want to make permanent modifications to my hardware, and I'm the kind of retro who wants to use real floppies anyway. Got a Gotek years ago and installed it in to an ext drive case, mostly for transferring ADF's to real floppies but with a boot selector games and demos could be run from it too. Quite often I see posts about having the Gotek as an external drive with 'homebrew' looking electronics in between, but seldom do I see this kind of solution used.
After getting network connectivity for my A1200, I think I haven't used this at all as it's so much simpler to mount an FTP account as a drive for the PC and the Amiga, and use ADF's (and what ever files) from there. |

My gotek is also in an old external drive case like that. Definitely the least amount of jank.
