Also there's a new AmiSSL 5.6 release too. |

This is a bit confusing to me... am I supposed to install v2.5.7 (without hotfix) on top if v2.5.6 before installing v2.5.8? Or, can I install v2.5.8 directly on top of 2.5.6 as it's stated on the IBrowse website that "Due to the bugs that unfortunately crept into the initial 2.5.7 release (although these were quickly resolved with hotfixes) we decided to make a full new stable release."?

Just install 2.5.8 over whatever you have installed currently. All components will be replaced, so it doesn't matter.

Great piece of software, support and getting regular updates. What more could we ask for. I have one question. What might be causing the issue I am having (nothing major) where the very initial splash screen with ibrowse logo, is not displayed at all in my system. All I am getting is a square grey box totally empty.

I remember having this sort of behavior on my ClassicWB 3.9 setup at some point.
Are you using VisualPrefs? |

In System --> Border sizes --> Top/bottom borders... the Bottom border needs to be EXACTLY 2. Anything other than 2 causes the same issue with the splash screen not showing. That ofc with MUI 3.8 as with MUI 5 I didn't have a single problem. |

Hello guys and sorry for the late reply
This is the screenshot of the initial ibrowse splash screen which is this square empty grey window I use MUI 5 version 21.227 (31/8/2021) and I don't use visualprefs. Last edited by npagonis73; 24 December 2022 at 11:43. |

With Multiview try to see if you can see the image well, the logo file is located at this path:

Good evening AMIGASYSTEM. Multiview opens the IBrowse logo pictures fine and I have also set it as the default tool in Deficons. That was my first thought as soon as I encountered this problem. This splash screen consists of some text (like ibrowse version etc) and the logo. In my grey square window there is nothing in it. No text no image, just nothing.

Hi there again and thanks for your message. I have been trying various things all this evening and I finally found what was causing the problem. It is the IControl preference settings. More specifically in the appearance settings menu. Initially I had it in legacy look and the titlebar sliders at 4 pixels each. If you move the window slider to 0 then ibrowse splash screen appears. Other combinations don't work but I found one more that actually does the trick. 18x18 1:1 ratio and then I can have 4 and 4 pixels on the window section as shown in the photo.
Anyhow thanks a lot for your interest in helping me solving my issue. Merry Christmas once again Nikos |

Great, your experience could serve other users who have or will have the same problem.

Finally loaded the demo version of the latest iBrowse on my A1200 with an 030/28mhz and 64M RAM.
Yes, it is much better at rendering than AWEB and it works with SSL (something I have not yet gotten the latest 68k AWeb APL Lite version to do without crashing). And, it is really really really kual to see the rotating boing ball on the top of the EAB page on my Amiga. I was expecting that to be static... However, I think mostly because of the javascript, the EAB main page to AGES to load. Minutes. (Not five, but more than one...) That's just not worth $59.99 to me... Yeah, if/when I get a PiStorm or if I want to run it in WinUAE (why would I do that if I can just run a Windows browser on the same machine) or something like that, it might be nice... But I still don't see it as $60 nice to me... Not saying it isn't worth it. It is impressive... Just, I think, a much smaller market out there for people who will really pay that much for it... Would I pay $25 (maybe $30?) for the novelty of it on my current machines, slowness and all... Possibly... Maybe probably. I can be impulsive and that spinning boing ball is neat.. ;-) Part of me thinks that if they dropped the price to that, they might have a LOT more registered users... But I am NOT a software business person, so take that with a lake of salt... ;-) Either way, it is pretty nice and it did just work for me... |
