I've probably left some debug screen colouring code in place. I wouldn't get too worried about it in any case.

Yeah high score and options saving is about all that's left

Thanks again for the testing, guys.

Just tried a couple of the slaves - the standard 2.00b3 slave gets an access fault just before stage 3 starts, slowdown is still there too.

b3a had corrupt graphics part way through stage 1-3 for some reason. Also in both slaves when the AUDIOS screen appears at the start it strangely goes blank as soon as the screen flashes white, but that's not a big problem.

I tested these with WHDLoad 16.8, although it's just occured to me that I have been using the beta version, I'm not sure why. I'll try all the slaves with the official release over the weekend if I get the time.

hello Girv, i have tested the game with slave 2.00b3e, it works 100% on my configuration, there is only a graphic glitch just before fighting the huge pike.

i get a yellow bar on the bottom of the screen.

@Graham Humphrey: what was the access fault? Don't stress too much about testing all those slaves as I'm working on a separate timing slave that may help characterise blitter performance in different machines and situations, which in turn might give a clue as to why you're seeing slowdowns.

@dlfrsilver: The yellow flash is debug code I'd left in by mistake (I think/hope ) so don't worry about that. What is the spec of your machine?

I've forgotten, sorry! I'll try it again tomorrow evening if I get the chance, failing that over the weekend, and see if I can get the error again.

So we're good on 030 and 060, just the problematic 040's remain

I've posted a thread in the WHDLoad project forum with a blitter speed test slave. Check it out...

I've tried the slave again on the full release of WHDLoad 16.8 and it still crashes before stage three, I made a coredump if that would be any use to you?

Where did you install Apidya from? It looks like your Stage 3 code is different from the other versions I've been looking at

Graham probably used KG's "Apidya_v1.4_2465.zip", the budget re-release from Markt & Technik/Team 17.

That'd be the one with the "AUDIOS" logo I guess ?

It looks like the Stage 3 code is different between the two versions, with the 2465 version being slightly larger. Probably a bugfix or something.

I'm going off to have a little cry now, then I'll update the slave to detect this and patch accordingly

This should fix at least the crash, but not the slowdowns on a 040 CPU, right?

Apidya WHDLoad slave 2.00 BETA 4 in The Zone, which should support Stage 3 on both known versions of the game

Slight correction: the 2645 version stage 3 code is 0x18 bytes smaller than the other, not larger as I said above.

I check the new slave with the re-release.

Edit: Works flawless, no crashes here.

Just to confirm: RN and girv, you are correct, that was the version I was using.

I will try the new slave later and let you know how I get on...

Right, I tried it out, and stage 3 does indeed work now. Sadly the slow down is still alive and well, and strangely, only now and again, after selecting a power-up the screen flickers.
