Speaks volumes how appreciated DD was when people with 0 posts post here first.

Or, or, or, here's an idea: don't and just hang out with us mortals. Speaking out of experience... ignoring unsavoury flapjacks is not that hard. Your neck might get a little stiff at first from all the head shaking but that'll pass.

I'm thinking that your GM status made you feel waaaaaay too responsible, now it's time to unwind and just hang out.

You've definitely earned a well deserved break, mate.
As others have already said, don't delete your account, you'll just regret that down the road.

The day when this place is no more will bad a sad day.

Thanks @DamienD from across the "pond" for all the work you have done over the years and for sharing your excellent collection with nobodies like myself.

I can't say I really know what happened other than a few bits and pieces posted here in this thread and a couple others, but I pray this time of rest for you is a healing one and you return one day refreshed and eager to passionately talk Amiga here once again with this board's denizens. No modding, no sharing of files, just discussion and banter among friends.

Peace.

Don't you dare.

Fissuras slaps DamienD with a large trout.

Hope you are fine. Great work you have done all those years. But please do not leave. Lurk on the off topic section where we, the lost souls, still survive.

Ah, so that's why Bub's turned his back. Very clever way of letting people know something's up!
I'm not a regular here and wasn't even aware you were a moderator but its clear this community runs a tight ship and it would seem we have you to thank for a lot of that. So, thank you!

I think the number of people who joined EAB for Damien's collection and then STAYED is telling. His generosity helped a lot of people get BACK into the Amiga, to live their childhood dreams and spend time enjoying something today that they may not have been able to then. ALL FOR FREE.

That is priceless for the amount of joy he gave back. That is the value of Damien's contribution.

Doh, that's sad as f**k. You've always been the "other" man behind the FTP server, helping me tons there.

Then it's settled. DamienD will return and everything will go back to normal.

I have not commented until now, out of a hope that things would settle and we wouldn't lose DamienD.

It seems this may not happen, and this is a huge loss to our small community. I know not everyone saw eye-to-eye with the man, but that happens, and the work DamienD put in around here in so many ways was so valued by so many.

I don't know if he'll ever see this, but on the off chance that he will, I just want to say a heartfelt "Thank you" for all you did for our community. We are genuinely worse off without you amongst us in my humble opinion. And once this situation ends with the current human malware and travel is once again possible, I'd gladly buy you as many beverages as you'd like if you manage to make it to Tasmania, Australia, and thank you face-to-face.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and DamienD returns to our community.

Sorry I'm late in responding, but I just wanted to say that it is sad to hear you're having a rough time of it. If a community becomes toxic to you (as I have learned from bitter experience elsewhere), it is truly best just to walk away. It never ceases to amaze me how a minority of individuals seem to enjoy ruining a scene. All the best: your health and sanity is what's important. And thank you for all of work. It was always a pleasure chatting with you.
