The external brick is the same size as a laptop adapter (in fact, it IS a laptop adapter!). It is a compact, neat and tidy solution.

I would just as soon keep the power supply and the heat that it generates outside of and away from my 1200.

The picoPSU (especially the 120W version) produces very little heat.

I'm using a modified AT power supply that works very well. Unfortunately it ain't much to look at.

This is key.
You don't see the need for such a thing until you have started traveling around with your Amiga and realize teh stupid brick is TOO BIG to take on a roadtrip.

This option is neat and easily replaceable. If you fry the DC adapter, you can easily get a new one!
