Because that's not a problem nowadays, it doesn't have to fit on a single disk so just be lazy and focus the energy on making the game good rather than as small as it can be. Plus it is even expected by gamers nowadays that a game is going to be a hefty download. I've seen people referring to a game as "probably crap" because it was "only" a 4gb download. |

If a game has to be extremely efficient regarding size, then it needs to be coded from scratch without any kind of off-the-shelf game engine which typically have hundreds of things that you don't need (image effects, physics, shaders, etc).

"Hunter HD" - Fan Remake & nostalgic discussion of a classic Amiga game :)
My sentiments are who gives a $hit. Internet quota and storage are cheap these days.

Probably true... Forgive me it's not a go at you personally. I used to work in Web Design and it's a pet peeve after people not paying hosting and projects going south

I uploaded all files to my Dropbox... The image links seem to be working, does anyone know how if it's possible to directly link to uploaded html files?

Yes, but what happens if you click on this link:

Brings up a dropbox page allowing you to directly download the file or save it into your dropbox account (on ios with safari it automatically switches to the dropbox app and allows you to save it in your dropbox) |

That's what I meant. It should just be opened like any other html page in the browser but I'm not sure if Dropbox can do that.

No i don't think it can. Its not a web-host, downloads only. You could probably make a google site page (limited page formatting) and just have a link to a zip to download from dropbox. |

In any case if storage (for games) is what you're after and you deliver the game for free, there are specific online services for that nowadays. Gamejolt for example:
http://gamejolt.com/ or itch.io which can also be used to sell a game: https://itch.io/ Or good old indiedb of course. Nicer ways than dropbox in any case, but dropbox of course works just fine for development/preview builds |

Thanks. IndieDB is a possibility, but I generally limit the exposure of my projects on purpose to a select few forums, mostly just one or two, as long as development is in the very early stages. I think I will just look for just another free webspacce

Has there been any more progress on this? It's really great seeing it again.
Because of the style it doesn't seem to have aged terribly badly. |
