Really like the idea behind this project and would like to thank the author. I've made a youtube video demoing it but I'm interested in updating it with more modern x64 ubuntu base with an LTS kernel rather than 4.15 which is EOL and latest fs-uae devlopments.
The scripts that are mentioned in the previous post, could you give more details on these scripts location. I have what I believe is the latest version which is Amilator-4.15-0-2.rar I have started analysis in the live/filesystem.squashfs file /var/log/apt to work out what is installed. I'm not a linux expert but keen enthusiast thats learning all the time. I seen that it uses nodm which is something I havn't come acrossed. I have found a set of shell scripts in /amilator. start-emu.sh are these the scripts mentioned? Does anyone know if there has been development already to update this to recent debian or ubuntu release before I start working on this? I can understand the reason to base this on 32bit as it can be run on old hardware and we do like to hold on to our old computers ;-) But with alot more distributions dropping 32bit and I question how many people would use this on i386 hardware still and best moving to x64? |

So decided to take a baby step in working on this and just updating the debian 686 version before attempting to make a x64 ubuntu version.
I have updated it to Debian 10 buster which uses 4.19 kernel. I have also updated FS-UAE from 2.8 to 3.0.5 as there have been some great improvements done to FS-UAE itself. Have tested it on the machines I have here and looks good but would like people to test it out and give feedback good or negative. My first attempt at this so learning as I go along but enjoying it so far https://mega.nz/file/iFcF0C6T#tSFSys...A2niN9UIlk5jOo Last edited by MikeyG; 30 May 2020 at 17:45. |

Excellent. Is there some reason not to use newer kernels?

Hello all.
I just joined EAB after watching MikeyG Youtube video about Amilator. Don't know if I will be much of a help here, but I will try my best. I'm about to play with v 4.15 and would love to try MikeyG version too, but MEGA asks for decryption key! Can I get it ? |

@Gohisha Ah thank you for spotting that. You can tell I'm new to MEGA as well. Updated linked. Please try again.
@Methanoid Debian 10 buster is 4.19 based that's the reason why. Ubuntu 20.04 is linux 5.4 thats why I want to look at porting this to Ubuntu but this is more envolved and I wanted to start simple and work on it. And I've read that very little development and patching is done on 686 platform now so I would like to look at x64. |

Thanks MikeyG. Didnt know you had a YT channel (you could maybe mention in a sig discretely!) so subbed FYI, its SYSLINUX not SYSLINK (video!) I will have to have a play with it. A video on how to install to HDD without using Syslinux (which i think messes with MBR sector??) would be great EDIT: https://www.systutorials.com/docs/li...-syslinux2cfg/ might be useful for that sort of thing |

Downloading it, thank you.
Once installed, can you in shell run updates or should I just leave it as it is? Thank you for contribution! Too sad this seems to be another almost dead project. It is great idea, and I am planning to dedicate one old laptop just for Amiga. |

Updating it is difficult - you have to unpack the filesystem blob, replace FS-UAE or update the host OS, then re-pack it before copying it to a USB stick and transferring it via command line to the destination box.
Annoying as hell tbh |

Actually a good update would be to include a 15khz mod, to connect to a CRT with a vga to scart cable.
Don't know if all cards would be compatible, except most AMD/ATI which i guess would work. https://github.com/D0023R/linux_kernel_15khz https://www.metaswirl.com/blog/2018/...ro-gaming-box/ |

A collateral question :
Amilator runs on a linux distro thanks to FS-UAE. Since the Raspberry-Pi also runs a linux distro, do someone tried (or know) if an Amilator version for Pi has been made ? I am not talking about the other distros based on UAE4Arm, etc., but an Amilator "refactored" for the Pi. Last edited by malko; 19 August 2021 at 09:14. Reason: typo |

No FS-UAE for Arm so you may as well look at Amiberry or PiMiga

Making a specific search on YT directly returned this from MickeyG. So looks it's doable.
