Is there a way to see what memory a program is accessing for it's data, or what memory it's residing in?
I'm trying out AmigaAmp 2.25 with the WOS external decoder. It's launching ok and playing mp3s but it seems to be slowing the system down quite a bit - things get a bit unresponsive similar to if amigaamp were running under 68k. This is making me think the ppc is running out of amiga memory and not sonnet memory. |

OK, my journey has started, but stranded almost immediately already.
I have an AOS3.9 BB1&2 with Mediator 2.5 & Picasso96 installed. System runs fine. But when I insert the Sonnet, in the second PCI slot from the top, the system simply doesn't boot anymore. It does reboot with the AOS3.9 BB2 ROM update but after that a dark screen and nothing anymore. No difference with or without memory in the Sonnet. My system: A400D + CSPPC 2MB CHip, 16 MB fastRAM, 128 RAM on CSPPC, 256 MB on BigRAMPlus AOS3.9 on CF on internal IDE Buster 11. Latest Mediator 4000Di model (3,3V) No clue how to troubleshoot from here. |

Have you tried it without the BigRAMPlus 256 installed?

Is that with a Voodoo installed? And is that a normal boot or a boot with no startup-sequence and running setpatch manually?

Yes, that was my idea as a next step too, try without the bigramplus and without the rtl8029 network card. I also noticed that I have one of the mediator jumpers set in a way it first presents the mediator than the Zorro cards, maybe I should reverse that again? Voodoo is installed and configured with the mediator tool (13 MB memory). Picasso is installed and voodoo modes configured but not yet set as default, systems boots in pal high res. Since it was very late yesterday I also didn't try to boot without startup-sequence yet. Before inserting the sonnet I already had a weird issue without any consequences. During boot I got loadmondrvs is not executable while it really is according to the file attributes.

BigRAMPlus gobbles up all available Zorro 3/PCI memory.

OK, only very minor progress.
Voodoo modes run fine, but I haven't set any as default, system boots in PAL hires. BigRAMplus (and network card) removed. Sonnet moved to top PCI slot. Still similar behaviour. Which is actually the following: With powerpc.library in libs and NOT calling InitPPC systems hangs during booting. With set echo on I did see that it actually hangs after loadwb... With powerppc.library removed from my HDD and sonnet still installed the system boots fine. Still have to try: - move powerppc.library to subfolder within libs, on trixster's advise - close WINSIZE jumper, although total PCI memory is still below 256 MB (16 MB on voodoo, 3x 64 MB on sonnet, 208 MB in total) - Set ENVARCs exactly as in https://github.com/Sakura-IT/SonnetA...ki/Good-Config - Set voodoo mode as default |

I'm surprised the library doesn't warn you that the jumper is wrong. It should be ALWAYS set to 512MB. 192 MB sonnet memory needs an address alignment of 256 MB. As it is installed after the voodoo, no 256 MB boundary is left available this way. So it's a no go.
Also, picture data type starts powerpc library. So you need initppc where the docs say it should be or put powerpc library not in libs: If you have read this thread then you see a dump of pciinfo and showconfig helps for trouble shooting. Good luck! |

Ok, enough pointers to continue my quest, thanks for all the help and patience with me
Just a quick question, not behind my a4k atm. If I close winsize that breaks the setups that don't use the sonnet (aos3.9 csppc & aos4.1) won't it? So I may have to put a switch over the jumper pins? |

I'm kinda curious about the Bigramplus, didn't someone advertise it as working with 4 of them in a system at the same time? EDIT: It was the Zorram not BigRAMPlus, I wonder if setting the Mediator to allocate Mediator memory first would work with the Zorram then. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 22 August 2017 at 22:54. |

A3000 memory map says Zorro III is 0x10000000 to 0x80000000. However, expansion library starts putting things at 0x40000000. So 4x256 mb should be possible.
Scratch 1 for the sonnet memory. 1 for the rest of the pci cards and 1 for the pci config. Should be space for 1x256 or 2x128 mb expansions. But I need to see the showconfig output. |

In the end the behaviour was the same with and without bigramplus. So I think it may work with the bigramplus, but have only time to continue in the weekend.

Wooohooo Success!!!! Thanks so much guys!
I did the following:- move powerppc.library to subfolder within libs, on trixster's advise - Closed WINSIZE jumper - Closed SWAP jumper. Required with BigRamPlus and ZorRAM. Tried with both (separately, so once with BRP, once with ZorRAM). If you leave it open the Amiga starts with a red board screen showing the memory card defective. - Set ENVARCs exactly as in https://github.com/Sakura-IT/SonnetA...ki/Good-Config Created a small Startup-sequence.
