Why cant i use right shift key when typing in workbench with winuae. Why is left shift the only key that allows you to type in caps. Beside caps lock.

...and <Right Shift> is the 2nd fire button
Try it with a game that supports 2 buttons i.e. Bubble and Squeak [AGA]. Cursor keys also won't work for moving around a text editor etc. with "Keyboard Layout B" set. Anyway, if you change to "Keyboard Layout A" for a minute you'll find that all of the above work. |

On a side note, How do I activate the "Insert" Button? Insert Key on the PC doesn't activate it. Also not sure if the Zero key which is the Insert key as well works, tried with NumLock then Zero, or Zero on its own. Directory Opus, Is not allowing me to have Insert key activated? HOw do I do that? |

The Amiga doesn't have any insert button.

I'm sorry, but that insert works in the same way as the del key next to it and the end key above. Those are printed there for pc compatibility, for when pc software is being used. Those alternatives printed on the front are not recognised or used by the native Amiga system.

Question is then I can't over right text when typing in Directory Opus? I always have to backspace and type?

You can also delete, which deletes the character under the cursor, shifting everything else to the right of the cursor one character left. There are also some excellent Amiga-specific keyboard shortcuts that aren't supported 100% but I think DOpus supports them:
Alt-backspace: Delete word to the left Alt-delete: Delete word to the right Alt-left: Move cursor one word to the right Alt-right: Move cursor one word to the right Shift-backspace: Delete everything to the left Shift-delete: Delete everything to the right Shift-left: Move cursor to start of line Shift-right: Move cursor to end of line Notice the pattern... I still miss these shortcuts when working on other systems because they're so logical and intuitive, and work almost everywhere. There are more variations as well. I find they almost make up for the lack of overtype mode. Actually, thinking about it now, don't some applications use Alt-numeric keypad keys for things like overtype etc. Not a help on DOpus of course, but some applications I'm sure did support the alternative keypad markings. |

I take it then it is impossible to over right characters with another character (Hence the insert key) ?

Do you have "Sticky Keys" enabled in Windows? This usually enables after 5 consecutive presses. Turn this off and see if it helps

With this game you can go into "Options" and change the "Joystick" from "2 Button" --> "Standard" (jump is now up). Doesn't fix your issue though; more of a workaround |

That is true. Unless the software supports it, the standard action is to insert. Various editors and word processors do it, but it's not a system-wide feature.

There is no automatic way of splitting an NDOS disk into separate files, although there are some commonly used file systems used by games manufacturers, so once you decode one you can reuse that knowledge for several others. |

Copy junk to track 40
there was a utility - maybe trackmodisk you can even view the contents of MrBloby with a simple mountlist - this game should be turned back into Trolls. It would be cool if you could have a AmigaDos compatible bootlock that uses a different Root Block - this would also be good for booting extra large ADFs on Floppy emulators like gotek.
