The Microswitch Python i have now is great!!. I might still buy a Zipstick and try to get used to it
Blade, with the python I had (no microswitches), the rubber pads cracked, so I superglued them in place. Now the only way it is going to break is if the circuit board cracks! I would say it is now an extremely tough joystick. Though the problem with all non-microswitched pythons is they are not as exact in the directional feedback of the controls, especially when going diagonally.

The best joystick is indeed the Atari 2600.
I also like a no-name brand that simply says 'joystick' on it. Those ones last, the rest of them don't.
I had a Python and a Quickshot II, and in my opinion they aren't worth diddly except on a flight sim.
If I could get Atari joysticks with kevlar fibres in the plastic ring, that would be the ultimate.

The original Atari 2600 joysticks were truly awful. HOWEVER, the joysticks that come with the Atari Flashback 2 are visually identical and yet worlds better. They're very well made and are roughly in the same league as the Competition Pro in terms of quality.

RE: the Quickshot Python: There are worse joysticks, but I can't remember much about them at the moment. The vast majority of 1-button sticks are garbage anyway. Just about the only good thing that could be said about them is that they're marginally better than nothing at all.

Ditto. Sure they broke too easy, but they had excellent grip and most of all AUTOFIRE which was damn handy with shoot em ups. I never liked the Zipstick and Competition Pro because they failed miserably in those two departments.

Clearly the worst joystick, is the Sinclair SJS Joystick.... beyond painfull to hold, and only one fire button on top of the stick proved a nightmare!

the python was extreemly cheaply made, or ateast that howlong it lasted for... i think i had 3 of these python sticks over the course of 2 months before they disintegrated beyond repair.

to be fair though, both me and my bro have big beefy hands and do get into games a fair bit.... *ahem*...

Comp pro's... okay... as long as you dont mind chaing the micro switches every other month!

I am sure my house was joystick death during the 80's and 90's! there certainly was a joystick graveyard out back that for sure! LOL

contray to latest opinion, the Atari joystick lasted the longest (an not that not because it was least used), infact it was my favourite sensi joystick!!!

I think I still have that still works from when we had the 2600 VCS way back in 1980 LOL!!!

Mr. Bootson, you really don't know, how crappy joysticks can be! Quickshot Python is far better than a lot of real craps!

Yeah it looks great the way the stick doesn't stand up at a 90 degree angle to the base and just kinda flops to one side.

I agree predseda there are many crap joysticks but this topic is about the python.

Bwahahaha.

I much prefer arcade sticks with a solid stick and a ball on the top. Can't stand flight sticks for arcade stuff, makes it DIFFICULT.

Zipstick for king. I drew a picture of a zipstick in MSPaint, I would never draw a picture of a Python stick.
