BBC B was faster then rest of 8 bit computers and it was one that started my dream of owning universe (Elite )


Apple II still holds a special place for me as first home computer I used.

As I said earlier in the thread the colours on the Atari 8-bit are all pretty subdued, so I'm not sure you could say "virtually colour you wanted without limitation" - not if you want a pure yellow for example. So, as cool as it is, I'd discount those machines.

I was going to post that it must be the Atari ST. Certainly it has a really flexible palette, but of course you're limited in how many you can show at once so maybe the the ST needs to be ruled out too.

Can the A1000 be classified as a 'home computer'? Probably not primarily at that price (although if wasn't, Commodore didn't know what it was) or would you call the A500 the first 'home Amiga'?

Anyway, this might all be immaterial. What month in '85 did the MSX2 launch? With its 256 colour mode, it's got a good argument to be the first to meet the criteria...
