I have no problem finding the sprites... but how do I make the other layers of colors using E/D to end up in the correct place?. I remember once a gfx memory ripper I used on the Amiga, with it I could move the other color fields, but in this prog I can't. I have tried 10 more games and I have the same problem in all of them.
The only game so far which is easy to rip gfx from is Gods. All I have to do is to find the gfx and set the colors to Bit:4 and the 4 different color layers ends up correctly... well, some of the gfx are not correct, I just have to find the right line where the correct ones are. gfx1.gif - found the sprites gfx2.gif - pressed E and cannot find anywhere where the color layer is in the correct spot... edit: Can you rip some sprites from, let's say Ruff 'N' Tumble and then explain, step by step how you did?. plz Last edited by Ironclaw; 31 January 2005 at 13:04. |

When they line up and if there is always the same amount of bytes between the pictures then you can use the Skip Bytes value to skip them between Bitplanes or Whole Pictures. Experiment with that and it will work. You MUST have the picture width and height setup properly though (Y Value!)

This is not working... heh... doesnt matter how I line them up and what x and y value... the different color layers isnt in place (dont yell!, I'm a noob ).
Another problem I'm having with some games is that all the sprites are splitted, like, batman's left part is in one window and the right part is in the other one. Can't put him together.. been messing around with all the functions.... Think it might be easier to understand if you ripp some sprites and tell us what you did, cuz I can't put him together. I have uploaded an uncompressed savestate of Batman to the Zone... and if you don't wanna try, maybe someone else might? thanks. |

The only sprites I can rip so far are from Gods as there's not much to it, just select the right Y and X which are easy to find and then press E 4 times. Even if the colors could be found with the ripper, I prefer taking a screenshot of the game and steal the colors from there instead using Paint Shop Pro: (like you said you did with your gods gfx, tomcat)
I'm so excited that this is possible .... I must learn how to ripp other sprites. Edit: Last edited by Ironclaw; 31 January 2005 at 20:23. |

Some Terminator 2 sprites.
Damn, look at T1000 being kapowed!... nasty. I didn't bother cleaning them up. I gave a shot on ripping the sprites from Turrican 2, but as with most games I've tried, the character is splitted appart and I can't combine him. Last edited by Ironclaw; 01 February 2005 at 00:23. |

Hehe, these are all very nice :-) I would give a try to the BatMan ones - and will if I have time - since I am working off-site and people stare at my monitor non-stop So if I don't do it this week then I will do it next week when I am back home.

I've managed to rip 16x16 tiles from Ruff'n'Tumble with correct colors but the sprites (or bobs?) are difficult.
btw. This seems to be a good opportunity to say thanks to tomcat for this great tool! @Dast You need BB sprites/tiles? I had ripped them all (well almost all) for the website back in 2002/03. Just say something, mate |

Could someone try to rip Moonstone's gfx plz. I can't get the splitted gfxs together, I have the same problem with most other games... an example to work with is the uploaded Batman savestate in the zone. All Batman's sprites are splitted. If someone know what to do to combine these in the ripper, please tell. What I could do to rip those gfx is to just save the whole page with the sprites and give them the correct color AND manually cut and paste to build him together.... but don't want that.

The ripper cannot combine these because they are stored split!
Basically the game puts them together when it needs to. They do this so that there are less big sprites The players character might be made of 2 sprites joined together, and if only a small part needs to move (say the arm) then only the arm is redrawn see Only way to do this is rip the sprites, then use a paint prog to re-join them |
