Okay...... so any analogue stick should work, it's just that some will have a wider range of control than others?

From what I can see, like Tornado it has in-game centre-ing control (but no proper calibration).

Another game I noticed that doesn't seem to be generally recognised for supporting analogue is F117A Stealth Fighter 2.0, which is basically the updated and improved(?) version of F19 but released after the genuine article had been released, so less based on Microprose's imagination.

Tornado does have proper calibration, and it shows what your joysticks pot range is.

Yes that part of the sentence referred to F15 II. Hence the brackets.

There is no joystick centering in Amiga F-15 II. It's fixed to 20 center, like in other old Microprose flight sims. The document scan on HoL that states "Joystick Re-center Alt-J" is from PC version.

On Amiga version it just toggles control method between keyboard/joystick/analog joystick.

I'm still enjoying myself with this flight-sim despite a severe lack of skill.

I just uploaded another video, this time I fall victim to an incoming SAM attack. The video starts 2 minutes out from my target - and ends shortly afterwards.

I manage to take out the SAM site with an ALARM missile, but the victory is clearly their's.

I would welcome any tactical advise at this point.

Yes, I'm still plugging away at Tornado. :-)

I'm quite chuffed with my latest clip, it's a successful attack on a Munitions Store and Road Bridge, with some preliminary destruction of enemy air defences.

I'm also using an embedder which hopefully gives me improved Amiga audio, as previously it was getting reduced in volume possibly during the SCART to HDMI conversion.

Anyway, hope you like it.

I've been having problems with Loft Bomb attacks. They tend to fall past the target.

I think reducing speed to 400 knots (from 550) improves things but the aircraft's computer that determines the moment of release based on the speed/height etc so it's not completely straightforward.

I'm afraid the commentary is rather quiet, I'll work on that.

I'm glad you're still at it (even though I don't have time to contribute myself). Great to see people are still enjoying these ancient-but-awesome games.

I just discover this topic, I'm very interested. I now have a fully working 1200 with pistorm, and currently searching for analog joystick solutions. I should be good to go in june.

Cool, you have the right kit to really show the game off, and it'll be great to have someone to bounce ideas off.

My Loft Bombing research continues, but on the second combat mission, I'm hitting the X target, but missing the Y target consistently. It maybe because after taking out 2 SAM sites, your left with a AAA at Y and no more ALARM missiles - maybe the Enemy AI involved has an effect on the bomb trajectory...... or maybe I'm just rubbish.

@Dreadnought Cheers dude. Appreciate the sentiment.

I finally accomplished the Loft Bomb mission I've been struggling with. I tried to fudge it by converting the second target (which I was consistently missing) to a LAY (high altitude) attack which tends to be easier. The MiGs had other ideas, however, so I went back to a Loft attack and my current tactic of approaching at 400 knots.

It paid off, and just left some creative flying to avoid the target's still very much intact AAA battery. I slightly blemished the mission with a heavy landing, but I'm on good terms with the groundcrew and they can work wonders.

Hi,

IS there a specific version of Tornado for the pistorm ? So I can install it. In the meantime, I'm searching for a good analog joystick (currently looking for thrusmaster top gun).

thanks

Yes, the new WHDLoad version with Paraj's incredible speed up patch is what you want. It's not PiStorm specific, from what I can tell it will provide 030 users with the performance previously available on 060 cpu's.
If you have a problem sourcing it, let me know, I can Zone it if required. ok

Thank you, angus. It would be nice if you could help me to find it. Believe it or not, but I never heard about this game before last week ! I can't wait to play it (see my other topic about analog joystick).

Speedup patches are included in latest WHDLoad slave https://whdload.de/games/Tornado.html
Installed package can be found in Retroplay's stash https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61028

thank you, but I'm sorry I don't know how to use a whdload slave. And I didn't find the correct package on retroplay ftp (AGA speed up pistorm compatible version).

edit : is it this one ?

https://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/R...o_v2.0_AGA.lha

by the way, same question for TFX : is that the pistorm updated version of it ?

https://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/R...X_v2.1_AGA.lha

edit : another question : do a way exist to find the manuals of these games in pdf ? I remember the good old days, I used a keyboard template to find the hot keys ingame. thanks

many thanks

If WHDLoad is installed, then just unpack Retroplay's game archives and double click the slave icon.
If not, then get WHDLoad_usr_small.lha from https://whdload.de/ and follow install instructions.

Did you install WHDLoad? If you have, don't wait for your analogue, start the game and run the demo. It's well worth a look.
