For some reason I just can't get any DNS to resolve

I'm pretty sure it's somewhere between AmigaOS and Virtualbox...or between Virtualbox and your host hardware. LOL

I said pretty sure..not definitely sure.

I either get networking and it always works or I get the DNS host name issues and it never works. May want to randomly change the MAC address in the VB settings for this virtual and or switch to bridged and try a free IP address in your real LAN.

Okay, spent a little time playing around with networking today and getting some interesting results.

I changed the interface to "Bridged Adapter" pointing to my Host network card and then in Amithlon setup the IP address as if configuring another device on my router. I can ping outside (internet) by IP addresses and I can ping other devices on my network (internal) but I cannot get it to resolve DNS. I'm reading a lot of users of different Host/Guest are having the same issues on Virtualbox.... Weird.

Virtual box won't work the same way on everyone's PCs. Even the CPU emulation will be different depending on what chipset you're running on the host.

I'll try that, I really only use Virtualbox Amithlon for testing, screenshots, etc..and do everything on my physical Amithlon box. But I'll try to do some audio testing asap.

What kernel and AHI configuration are you using? I have to build another virtual to experiment with so I'd like to build near identical to your setup. I've been playing with my own kernels and stuff so I'd prefer to start fresh.

I tried using roadshow instead of genesis in virtualbox and it freezes when amithlon boots. No dice on any network setup still. Bummer.

Tried both the 3.10 and 4. the volumes are the default ones set to it. What ever AHI I use, Music, AHI 1,2,3,4. Same prob.

I will continue testing this as well, it's worked for me on my work laptop and my home PC under VB....yet my last setup at home didn't....has me a tad frustrated and I want to know why.

I'm using Windows 10 if that makes any difference. I can try on my MBP and see if results are the same.

Try using Miamxi DX. Works quite well.

I haven't setup a new Virtual yet. It's been a very busy month and next month doesn't look any less busy. I'll start this weekend with the install.

Tried the Amithlon disk I have with kernel 3 on an HP dc5800 I had lying around.
Core2 duo with PCI-e and 1x PCI, all Intel based chipset.

Installed ok onto the SATA 250 gig drive, SATA DVD drive is recognised also, not bothered to try more than 1gig of ram. So far usb is recognised and mouse and keyboard work from it. When I plug a memory stick in it locks up

Not got sound to work but it is an intel board and HP's bios setting are so sparse you could drive a bus through them I wasn't suprised.

Waiting for a nice PCI 5200 to turn up as on board only gives VESA although you can get a decent screen size out of it.

No network as yet. Going to pack in kernel 4 and give it another try just in case it's better for me.

I can say it's not as friendly as my old Athalon 2500 powered MSI board where everything worked off the bat.

This is the slimline desktop version of this pc, it's the sort of PCs you can now get for pennies as they were a corporate favourite. We have/had hundreds of them with clients where I work.

Perfect for a coat of beige paint and a new badge imo.

What is your test app? Any sound?

I've been playing an .mp3 for about 10 minutes (looping) with AHI set at 44100. Sometimes starting the .mp3 I get some harmonic distortions but stopping and restarting will usually clean it up. I haven't tried much else audio wise.

try setting to 22khz. But does it abruptly stop halfway through the music?

I will try that but at 44100 and 48000 it has played non-stop.
