I love this prod, very high quality. But has anyone got it to work on a plain jane A500 KS1.3 1mb chip? Crashes directly at the bootblock for me. Works fine in WinUAE but that doesn't impress my friends.

Should work if the memory isn't fake fast? What the memory address range on your hardware? Think there's a prog called sysinfo??

8372A Agnus in 1mb chip mem mode 0x0000 0000 - 0x000F FFFF.
Actually it would be nice if somebody else could report in on a 1mb chip A500, because my machine is "a bit fiddled with". ( see my previous posts if you are interested ). There are 2 pieces of software that doesn't work on my machine, this one and sysinfo. ( And I have tested quite alot) I can report that an older A500 with KS1.2 512kb chip and 512kb fake fast also crashes directly at the bootblock. ( No wonder since it probably tries to allocate memory that doesn't exist) Winuae allows your prod to load to track 12 on a 1.3 512kb fake fast system, then crashes. Disc 3 boots and runs all the way. ( But crashes at the bootblock on a real system. Interesting differences between emulation and real hardware. ) The real life floppydisc has been verified with checksum and works perfectly on a A4000/030. |

Hemiyoda: I'm guessing it falls over when trying to write to $80000 or above. Must be something odd about that kinda config which is a bit of a shit to be honest cuz I have no idea how to fix it?! AHHH!!!!.... Actually, I think I might know what the problem is... Maybe the SP is sat at the top of the first 512k... then yes that would serious screw it over... I'll try a little book block hack later to see if I can get her working.
As for another music disk, there is one planned but I'm not doing any of the music, but it is related to this music disk...... On the other hand I might put together a music disk of all the compo tunes over the last two years I've written in protracker, but the memory req would be 2 meg chip due to the size of some of the tracks!? |

Waiting eagerly to be able to test! Wish I could help you better trace what is going on.
2mb chip music disk? Do it! Always nice to hear what Paula is capable of. |

Still gurus directly at the bootblock. The guru message is the same on your new no.1 disc and the old no.3, if that is of help. See attached picture.

Does it load a bit or does it crash instantly after inserting the disk?

Just one thunk from the drive. It reads the bootblock (and maybe starts reading the next cylinder) and gurus.

Now it works on a lowly A500 1mb chipmem!
( I cheated and only copied the first 12 tracks from your image Stingray, 720kb MSDOS floppys are such a pain to work with. Hopefully your patches were within that. ) Last edited by Hemiyoda; 21 September 2012 at 23:58. Reason: added A500 & Winuae running in parallel pic |

I have fixed a bug in the bootblock (bsr.l is not an 68000 compatible instruction thus it crashed) so yes, copying the first 12 tracks only was more than enough.

Well done fella!! Eternal gratitude as ever! Sadly I don't have an a600 at home to test it on. Looks like winuae allows this!
