I think the old Denise remains READ/WRITE capable. It's just the FPGA which is WRITE only. (A transparent slave)

Obviously the FPGA cannot drive the READ data lines at the same time as the old Denise, and if everything is working identically they should have the same values anyway... right?

Interesting stuff! I look forward to seeing the compatibility or not

With a hard drive and WHDload you tend not to use the floppy drive much. If they show how to modify the motherboard to make the external FDD into DF0: then it wont be too bad.

Still, the entire point of the A600 is that it's supposed to be small. A mandatory external floppy drive detracts from that.

There's got to be a way to make it fit. Maybe a laptop floppy drive could be made to work?

And as I just said, a floppy drive isn't mandatory.

Play games off the hard drive and transfer them on using the PCMCIA slot.
