I agree with most of your assessment, but need to defend Haynie here:
He had nothing to do with Hombre. His own plans at the time were primarily the "Acutiator". http://www.devili.iki.fi/mirrors/hay.../docs/acu1.pdf (A prozessor and chipset independent board design) |

@Ras Voja
I have a Vampire V4 stand alone and legacy seems very preserved to me. It seems like a more advanced classic Amiga with better features. Also, I like the small form factor, very portable. |

Kutaragi talked to every semiconductor company who would accept a meeting to find a partner for his plans. Some weren't interested, others said it couldn't be done. Ultimately, Halla seized the opportunity for LSI Logic and helped deliver the MIPS-based chip. “Almost every night for two-and-a-half years we had conference calls on the project, with Kutaragi in attendance at most of them, mainly to go over engineering trade-offs,” Halla said. “The rest of the meetings were highly animated philosophical discussions about pricing.” Kutaragi has worked on PS1's hardware price. ---- From https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=86052&page=2 Originally Posted by Dr. Ed Hepler I was targeting $45 (USD) for the two chips (total).
