I don't know if any of you are members of undergound gamer, but this is available there "Sinclair Spectrum, QL, and ZX81 - TOSEC 14/3/07 - Complete [Various/Retro/1980]"

Thanks mate,
but TOSEC does not include any QL commercial program (it includes only PD/freeware, 99.9% of them in BASIC language).

If you have some friends with QL + floppy interface it would be good.
During many many years I thoroughly searched and found all that could be found on the web... I would be really shocked if something commercial but free (I mean, not at sale like on the RWAP website) pops out.
That's why I would be very glad to find mates to exchange material with!
There's so much to preserve...

Why is there nothing commercial on the internet and, if you have some, why have you not put it online?

I guess if every QL user out there (all 10 of you xD) works that way, it's no wonder there's nothing on the internet. So much for preservation.

It's simple:

a) it's not true there's nothing commercial online. There's something, but only what became freeware during the years;

b) the rest is still commercial: the rights to sell them are mainly in the hands of a single person (hence my worries about preservation);

c) sorry... right now I will not put online the software I managed to get during these many many many many years. Some I bought original (and some pirated) back in the day, some others I got from friends, some others I downloaded from the web (see point a)). One reason is because it wouldn't be legal, and the second reason is that if I should put all them online, many QL mates would find all them ready to download and wouldn't be encouraged to exchange theirs (if they have).
I think that a 1:1 exchange would be far more interesting and productive in order to increase the number of recovered programs.

I bet they are doing so, primarily for the copyright reason. I'm trying to find as many QL mates as I can, so we can exchange what we have. Then we'll think about uploading them somewhere .

Yea, it seems QL users are a greedy bunch that wouldn't share anything unless they get something out of it. It seems to be the worst of all emulation scenes... a shame really, cause hardly anyone knows about QL stuff and this way even less people will ....

Unfortunately yes...
But he owns the rights (obtained from the software houses) to sell NEARLY ALL the QL programs, se there's nothing to do about that .
Oh, and... 5£ is the MINIMUM price...

I wouldn't say that at all. And please do not offend people. You really don't know what you're talking about.
I had the same thoughts you have about QL users, but now I understood that since RWAP has practically ALL the selling rights, all QL sharing is illegal.

My aim is exactly the opposite of what you wrote. I will share what I have but I need/want to exchange programs with other QL users (and they are not many, compared to other platforms' users). For doing that I need to find someone who has something and wants to share. I found one here in Italy but it's difficult.

Well I had to join the forums when I see that sort of abuse!

I may well sell QL games for £5 each - but that is the joint decision of myself and the copyright author. They are not second hand games - can you buy new PS3 games for 99p ?

We have recently brought out a package of 10 games for use on the PC (running under q-emulator) for £10 - maybe we could offer a similar package for the QL emulator / Kick-ROM (if they work)?

I found this thread trying to find some Sinclair QL games. I think I am starting to regret the decision to buy one. I can't find any bloody decent games to play on it!

Does anyone know anywhere where I can download some of the commercially released games which RWAP does not hold copyright for? (Such as Eidersoft games which people are trying to sell on EBay for £50! Ouch!)

There are QL games that rwap doesn't hold copyright for? QL is like the worse of the retro computers today. Nothing good available for free and when you buy something you realize nothing good available for $$$ either

@StarshipUK
@tomcat666

Check my PM

WinUAE support floppy disk images in RAW format (*.IMG)
The compatibility level (QL emulation) is not very high.

Not exactly QL emulation but theres a QDOS implementation for Amiga if you want to look into that world of perverse and bizzare OS

It suprisingly enough supports quite a bit of hardware, it seems people must have actually run this on 060 4000's back in the day..... the insanity.

(Edit: Oh wait, 060 part is actually not a suprise as its the same implementation as for the Q60 board)

Just got a QL myself, I was surprised at the lack for downloadable software, compared to the Spectrum. Little off putting if I'm honest.
