If the file is not extension-less (as many Amiga binaries) but has a true .exe suffix, it's a good idea to use the file in A1200 mode
At least I've almost never run across an ".....exe" file in OCS/ECS old-school demos. |

Since I done a few ones for Amiga Demobase, I can say there are some 'exe' demos that are A500. |

Huh? This is utter nonsense! What has the extension to do with the Amiga model? Nada! So this is neither a good idea nor a useful tip!

The .exe naming started somewhen in 1991/1992 when BBSes needed an extension, I believe. Before that, Amiga had nothing to do with the 8.3 prefix.suffix of MS-DOS.
I agree that the .exe means nothing as to the filetype, just as you can rename an .exe to .iff and it still won't show a picture of the executable in DPaint Depending on where you get the demo, the above could be useful to know, though. Many ECS-only demos have insane filesizes, like 5-10 MB, but I guess that's not a useful tip either. I still think it's true though that files that have not been renamed from the original (StunnerDentro) to SCX-STUN.EXE run fine in A1200 mode if they are called something.exe. Cracktros ripped from trackdisk are the exception, they are small enough and could be called anything when they're not in their native environment |

Conclusion : You can name them '<something>.woahyay' and they will run on the same machine Or just '<something>'. Or '<something>.amigaisawesome'. You get the idea

There was this song which I have fond memories, it's the first one from Razor 1911's Voyage. Maybe it was composed by Mantronix or Codex. By the way, still love this demo.

Yes, as long as they are A1200 compatible. A lot of the good old A500 one-file demos/intros/dentros/whatever aren't. Which is why I wrote that this is not a useful tip. The filename/extension has absolutely nothing to do with any compatibility, though sometimes I wish it would be THAT easy (looks at his still not finished Hardwired fix)

Yeah, Mark was/is a prolific talent. He made far more tunes than we could ever have hoped to use in demos. Hence Sploosh!
Glad you enjoyed it. Mark is still very active in the music scene. Check out www.madfiddler.co.uk. |

I had this crack copy of Prince persia once. can't remember the visual side that much, but I think it was this nice wavey font floating through stars and space. The music was actually the original to a youtube video dance remix? of that 100 best amiga games.
