nah, your not allowed to copy copyrighted material. Period. Without permission from the copyright holder you are only entitled to use what you have bought. On no disclaimer i have ever seen, movie, song, game does it say "sure make a copy for your own use, just in case your original gets scratched" |

@mrbob2
sorry chap, your actually a little out my friend, please take the time to read the statuary rights for the UK you are allowed to BACK *hence copy* anything you own, that includes software and media. you are also alowed to legally dissassemble any code that you have purchased to implement extra features that you desire. thats law m8... i am not making it up, i have no wish to, nor will it give me any credit to do so. its just fact. A fact that lots of companies and the main stream media ignore by putting on copy protection(s) so by directly denying you the right to copy what you own. if there happy to deny you your stat rights m8... believe me there not gonna go and sing and dance and tell you what you are allowed to do by uk law.... |

mrbob2, I thought the same as you - I thought the UK had no concept of fair use enshrined. Then I googled...
Do check out the UK copyright service website: it's really quite an eye opener. Surprisingly , the beardy one knows what he speaks of! |

If the ROMs are corrupted, it makes you wonder what entitlement the Amiga Forever licence actually grants the buyer! |

It was a condition forced by Amiga. And to all those complaining at the price, Again blame Amiga for that. Ask anyone who's dealt or tried dealing with them, McScrooge demands a very large slice of the pie. In both cases, it's "bend over and reach for the lube, or you can't get a license" |

Amiga Inc are snakes. They are also fighting over who owns OS 4.x*
Maybe we should have a whip around, buy the rights and BSD licence the lot. TBH I'm not even sure what "Amiga" inc actually own. Didn't they just licence the IP from Gateway? Gateway are gone now anyway. I'd rather see the IP out of the hands of these idiots. It would be really cool to be able to buy the rights to the kickstart roms out from under them and then release them into the public domain. I would smile for a long time.
Only problem is, what reason would Cloanto have for charging everyone so much for a CD that contains little more than a nicely configured version of a free emulator on it? |

I believe Cloanto have no rights at all to the roms, modified or unmodified.
They have found a loop hole, and they are using it to sell roms. Roms modified by two bytes that is. Do Cloanto pay taxes ? Do they not submit legal papers to authorities government departments etc. There must be a paper trail proving that Cloanto don't or do have rights to sell the amiga modified roms. Besides how the heck are they able to sell the roms modified. Now that must have a paper trail if legal. Yet no such paper trail has surfaced, or not been found. Which make me think Cloanto is on the fiddle. When did you last hear of Cloanto prosecuting anyone for selling or giving away illegaly their amiga version modified 2 byte roms. |
