I wonder if Lost Eden (http://hol.abime.net/5544) or Inferno (http://hol.abime.net/4219) ever got this far?

I've no idea but these games are a bit extensive in comparison to Megarace. Yet I'd be happy to see them as well.

Well, Lost Eden is by the same team as Megarace and I recall an article in CD32 Gamer or some other CD32 mag where they had a chance to try out Inferno on the Amiga so I reckon demos of some sort do (did) exist.

Perhaps it's worth to try writing an e-mail to people who developed these games. Have you tried that? You've go nothing to lose. What's more we could all gain two fantasic games. Maybe someone has them somewhere.

Well, the guy above was already in contact with some of the developers of Megarace/Lost Eden so maybe he could ask about Lost Eden as well. Inferno was developed by DID so I've no clue who to contact about it.

As for Lost Eden, there's even a JHOL entry for it here: http://hol.abime.net/5544 so it's definitely been developed for the CD32 too. Probably got released on the 3DO only though.

In many ways, I think it's a good thing that Inferno, Cyberwar, Megarace, and Lost Eden were never released for the CD32. If they had been, I think we would hold them in the same regard as Microcosm. Most, if not all, of these four titles were the "new generation" of mid-90's games which consisted of lots of medium quality video streaming from CD, with a few overlayed sprites. Graphics over gameplay. Megarace was certainly going to be like this, just a video of the track with overlayed vehicles (very like Micrososm, in fact). Cyberwar (IIRC) was just going to be lots of video sequences triggered by the player's actions. As for Lost Eden (from the wikipedia link above):

it has been congratulated for a good standard of graphics for its time, largely using pre-rendered 3D graphics
I'd still be interested to see any beta or alpha versions, though, and I'd be happy to be proved wrong!

Steve.

PC Megarace have strange but somewhat enjoyable gameplay. Avoid Megarace 3, boring shiny crap.

As most of the "new and glittering" sequels.

I remember seeing MegaRace, Inferno and Cyberwar in the papers. They seemed very enjoyable. Lately I've managed to find CyberWar for PSX. To tell you the truth I really like it. It has some kind of charm of the mid '90.
