OS3.1 yes. Tried with MUI 3.9 just now, but the same thing happens.
AmiSSL is in fact not installed. Is it required even if I'm not accessing any HTTPS-enabled sites? EDIT: Installed latest AmiSSL (v4.6) now. Same thing happens. Last edited by Firestone; 21 August 2020 at 00:28. |

Correct. AmiSSL isn't the issue as the crash happens before it is touched.
How about trying to load info/ibrowse-logo.ilbm, located in the IBrowse drawer, using Multiview? |

info/ibrowse-logo.ilbm loads fine using Multiview.
... but loading the PNG-version says unknown datatype... Guess I'm missing a PNG datatype.... EDIT: Installed PNG datatype, multiview now loads PNG-images, but IBrowse crashes the same way anyway. Last edited by Firestone; 21 August 2020 at 00:40. |

Only the .ilbm should be used in the startup window in the 68k version. Did you install the 32 or 256 colour image set? (latter does require a PNG datatype)

Tried both 5bit (ILBM) and 8bit (PNG). Same result.
Is version 2.5.1 available somewhere? I know I got that version to work on my A3000 with Blizzard 4030 half a year ago. Just to give it a try. EDIT: Found the archive, same thing with 2.5.1...... Last edited by Firestone; 21 August 2020 at 00:51. |

In my opinion it's not a datatypes problem but something related to FPU is some library not supported by your system, you should try it on a standard 3.1 OS.

I tried the following experiment now: Boot with not startup-sequence. Extract and install mui38 in ram: Assign libs: MUI:libs ADD Extracted and installed Ibrowse2.5.3 in RAM: Same crash. ENV: assigned to RAM, so it wouldn't get access to any saved variables. There must be a library or something crashing this thing.. Tried with or without FPU version too. |

This is what I would do.
Use original OS 3.1 startup-sequence and user-startup files. Do a clean install of MUI 3.8 and see what happens. If that does not work delete libs. folder and install the original 3.1 libs. If that work you can start adding stuff to startup-seq. user-startup one by one and find the problem. |

These are the libraries required by the iBrowser executable, try to replace them one at a time.
Some libraries are resident and you cannot replace them Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 25 September 2020 at 23:19. |

The only thing I heard regarding FPU is that an earlier version of AmiSSL required FPU.

@Firestone
If 2.4 works, but 2.5 versions do not, on the same system, obviously I'm more inclined to think there is an issue in IBrowse that needs sorting. Can you retry with SnoopDos, but make sure all System and AmigaDOS functions in SnoopDos are enabled, as well as enabling packet monitoring and debugging. Then, if the crash doesn't freeze your system, save the log from SnoopDos and email to me at "support at ibrowse-dev.net"? This might help me pinpoint more accurately at which stage it is crashing. Also, it might be worth trying with Arq disabled. |

In my last post page3, i spoke about the same problem as Firestone on my 060.
Yesterday i tried on my 030 exactly the same problem with Ibrowse 2.5, Both have Classic Workbench ADVSP. And same thing with Classic Worbench ADVSP on Winuae. The only thing i can say it's that Ibrowse 2.5 works perfectly with Classic Workbench and OS3.9 Never find why If it can help. |

Yes, well, I guess there also would have been more than 2 reports of this problem in the past 12 months if it was more widespread . It could well be some third party software causing or at least triggering the crash in IBrowse. I have also seen weird bugs in the past that, almost by luck, don't get triggered 99.9% of the time, but have been there many years (uninitialised variables, for instance).

You have to examine it hard, if it was possible to have his system on Hardfile probably someone could find the culprit, which I find interesting.

Victory!!! Found the problem.
Swapped the libraries from the 3.1 WB-disk according to the list from AMIGASYSTEM and rebooted between every try to make sure they got loaded from scratch. When I came down to locale.library I got a breakthrough! With locale.library from the original WB3.1-disk, IBrowse lights up like a christmastree. The version on the WB-disk is v40.4 and works fine with 2.5.3. The version that crashes is v38.27 (could it be the original 3.0-version?) (EDIT: checked by original 3.0-disks, and the 3.0 and 3.1-versions are the same: 40.4) Thanks a lot guys for helping me out! This was a hard one! Last edited by Firestone; 21 August 2020 at 22:35. |
