16 bit 16 channel XM mods play back just fine on an Amiga with a modest accelerator (68030). Just make sure to use 14 bit playback.

I get the best results with DigiboosterPro 2 for XM playback (over AHI). If you want 16 bit you just need to use a sound card.

I never trusted Intel to be better than AMD, but only more expensive ! The first PC I mount myself had an AMD K6 and I never had any kind of issue with it.

I think Intel and AMD had different strengths. My perception at the time was that an XMhz Intel was better than an xMhz AMD for 3D games, but AMD was better for Championship Manager and its pure number-crunching (and perhaps for most business tasks as a result?). Not sure if this has consistently been the case, though actually my current PC is my first ever AMD

My first pc was a commodore p60 pc built by escom. Was the cheapest crap you could buy but was a nice transition from amiga. Would it be worth sth today? Doubt it :-)

Intel had much better floating point performance until Athlon came along, even Celeron's were better than the K6 architecture in FPU intensive games.

I think they were about the same for integer performance but AMD were popular for general office use because they were cheaper. Also, I don't think FPU performance really mattered that much until Quake came along.
