Why so many one button games when it seems just as easy to use the second joystick button?

because 2-button joysticks were not the standard in the beginning. When the 2 button joystick became more frequent, more and more games supported it. But the support was randomly working and sometimes was broken, depending on the joystick. Not standard...

Amiga questions you've always been too embarrassed to ask

Aren't rtb and pat files used to make the kickstarts relocatable. Im assuming someone analysed the kickstart's for all non relocatable code. Btw isn't there a tool kick2rtb.

Edit: its a part of http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/MKick19

Once you have enough kickstart files, you start to notice that they have many of the same modules, just relocated differently. Binary diffing these modules will give you some added insight to the reverse-engineering process.

It helps a lot if you happened to come across some developer $200000 or $F00000 relocated versions of the same ROM in your travels.

Apart from that it was a manual job.

Kick2rtb is for converting mkick reloc data into skick compatible rtb reloc data. The author of MKick had to do the same manual job.

.pat files are for fixing certain bugs in the kickstarts that prevent them from booting on more recent machines.

The guy was talking about a secret way of getting them. I was thinking of some MMU trick and logging all addresses accessed, to track them down in the code later, either in CPTR form or BCPL form.
That, coupled with disassembly and heurstics around data between $F80000-$FFFFFF

This is not strictly true. I have blown the stack many times both on Windows and Linux. Although of course it doesn't crash the entire OS when you do it.

Intriguing. How can you be sure all of the code is ever run though?

Just wish remus and rom split were open source, all of the relocation of the modules must be contained within it.

Romsplit uses pre-existing (probably skick/mkick) reloc data to make the modules into relocateable load modules.. That's why it only supports a few distinct rom images.

I think Dracula is on Puggsy engine which is visible when you try to hold any item.

You can enable the euro/multiscan monitor drivers in workbench.

Be advised, that the A3000 is the only ECS machine which makes using these screenmodes nice in any way. The 16 bit bus machines are just too slow.

I was using 640x480 Productivity 60 Hz on my plain ECS A500 because I found the 50 Hz flicker so irritating - slow or not. But then I got a tower + Blizzard 2060...

Question. What actually happens when you suspend a software failure? Is the error isolated somehow?
