Sorry for refloating this thread but today I found a cheap PC USB Audio device in a drawer and I tried it on the rapidroad to see if it worked.
I thought it might be interesting for someone to know that it works perfectly. At least the one that I have. I think it cost me about 4€ years ago. [ Show youtube player ] |

OK, so 2 things - I've had a CD-ROM "Working" like that too. Once I try to do something like play a game from the CD (I tried to play Tales of Gorluth II) it worked for a while and then I started to get NAK Timeout errors on the USB bus and it was hopeless after that. So please make sure that you can actually do something significant with the CD drive not just load a disc and display it's contents.
Secondly, assuming that it does indeed work, I'd love to investigate what exactly your setup is that means yours works and mine doesn't. And I'm far from alone. I can see you are using 68060 and I only have 68030 but I have tried the RR in my 68060 based GB-A1000 and it was actually worse, not better. I'm interested in OS version, libraries, etc., etc. Also, I guess board revision and if any modifications have been made (timing etc.) Although I'm seriously considering that it could be power related. I'm running my A1200 on an original untouched A500 PSU. I also have a black CD32 PSU but it did not work with that either. |
