Hmmm, hadn't thought of that .
Well you should be able to get the Bblonde stuff, 75ML should be enough to do an A500 , which is a fair size.

I tried this product (Picture attached) on a small section of a C64 and the spacebar. This is the result after less than 40 minutes in the sun. (28 Degrees Centigrade)

No other products, just this creamy peroxide thingy pictured which cost like 1.90 Euro.

Looking good. I'm doing a SNES at the moment. Will post results with pics

The SNES is taking a bit longer, its been about 2.5 hours so far and i am re-applying the creme every now and then. It is already looking a LOT whiter than it was.

Unfortunately i did not take a "before pic" because i didnt think it would work, but it was pretty yellowed. But i will def post the after pic and after work im gonna go out and buy more of this stuff.

yes the cream' peroxid works...it is used by women in the hair
it is useful on yellowed parts that you can't submerge..also it works without light exposure...but it needs more time

First take your c64 apart, and give it a good cleaning
A hard brush and some cleaning liquid on the plastic parts
Otherwise the peroxide is just sitting there on the dirt doing nothing.

I did not bother washing the C64 because its broken both physically (the case) and it does not display. Was just to experiment. I am going to try the proper retrobrite, i already bought the xantham gum and glycerin and oxy just have not found the liquid peroxide with 40% vol and 10 - 20 strength yet.

Here is the SNES. Its not perfect but it is so much whiter than it was before. Before it was yellow/brown. Sorry but no before pic.

Please note the 2nd pic. My fault but when drying my SNES using a hair dryer i melted slightly part of the cartridge door. . [Its slight and does not really show in the picture]

This is my original SNES from when i was like 11 years old. Can anyone help me find the part so that i can replace it?

I looked all over ebay but cannot find.

Well, I finally had a sunny day! I bought the Retr0Bright ingredients almost exactly a year ago, and yesterday was the only guaranteed sunny day I've had (and been available for)!

I needed two days of sun, as I didn't get enough sun on Saturday to do everything (10:00 until 14:00 was all I got), but I'll get some B Blonde for next weekend (hopefully it won't be as bad as today - I had my parts outside in the rain; I was desperate for as much UV as I could get).

Anyway, I was doing my A500 (case), A1200 (case and keys), and the keys from a C64c.

Here are some shots of the A500, which got the full 4 hours of sun I had.

If those pics don't appear, then click there links:
Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3

The lighting was a bit different from the first pic to the two others, but I put the door from underneath in two pics to show the difference from the original colour. You can see where I had my Cumana external drive on the "before" pic - there is a rectangle of half yellowed case.

My A1200 and C64c keys aren't quite done enough, so I'll hopefully do them a bit more soon.

Thanks for making this info available

Yep, it's quite old (Kickstart 1.2). In fact it was 24 last week. I thought restoring it was a nice Birthday present

I'm glad the keys didn't need doing. They are a pain to take off, cover with gel, then wash clean and put back.

That keyboard is actually the best keyboard I've ever used on anything. It's perfect in every way apart from having " and @ swapped, and no £. It didn't bother me at the time (and still doesn't), but if I got a new computer now like that I'd be a bit annoyed.

I don't know anyone else with an A500 with the Commodore key.

Yes, it's very nice.

I do, handsome fellow - greets me in the mirror every morning. :-)

I'm a bit obsessed with this type of keyboard myself. It was available for the A2000 and A500, and it seems only during 1987. Mitsumi probably made a much better offer, as their cheaper non-mechanical switch construction became the norm for Amigas since.

No need to remove all the keytops. When I did my A600 I removed the keyboard from the metal base (about 20 screws - or 5 minutes Just be careful with the kb membrane) and then used a modeling paintbrush to apply the Bblonde over all the keys - being sure to do the sides of the keys as well. Once I'd finished sunning it I washed it in a cool shower and then gave it a blow dry with a warm hair drier before sticking it in the airing cupboard overnight. Remember, the keys are plastic, but the springs are steel, so be sure to thoroughly dry it before putting it all back together.

I've posted this link here before, but for completeness here are pictures of my A600 rebuild where you can see the dismantled kb:

Have fun

I haven't had much luck with BBlonde. I've put it on the sides of my A1200 case and on some C64c keys and not much is happening. I must have put in on them for about 6 separate days (some sunny, some cloudy). I have a few streaky whiter lines in places, but it's not very impressive. Retr0Bright was MUCH better, though is much more inconvenient.

I'm using a small painting brush it apply it, and it does seem to clump together in blobs after a while.

Any tips on using it? We only get about 5 seconds of daylight now, but I'll be applying it again at the weekend. I was put off getting a UV bulb, as some work and others don't, so it's a gamble.
