Hey folks,

This update is a little late, but...

Fixed the caps and the system seems to boot up well. I made a real botch-job of disconnecting the CDROM cable though and it won't read any discs. (Broke the plastic clip entirely out of my own clumsiness, although in my defence to cable was WAY short and the clip seriously brittle)

Assuming it's just a connection issue, how deep a hole am I in? And what's the best route for repairing that IDE-type cable to the CDROM?

Is it just the plastic retainer clip on the motherboard connector that's broke? i.e. the bit you lift up to release the cable or push down to secure it.

If so its similar to the likes of the keyboard retaining clips on the 1200 or 600. My 1200 one broke and until I was able to replace it I jammed a bit of cardboard down into the slot with the cable to hold it in place.

Unfortunately for a replacement you might be stuck. With a bit of pokery you might get the old one out and be able to glue it back together?

Yeah, just the plastic clip.

I've tried just to slide it into place but no joy yet, will try jamming it together with some cardboard when I next get a chance to open it up.

Love the video (and the keyboards you use !)

I've been playing with my 330, do you find the Reset button on the CD32 does not work properly? Works fine with TF328.

subscribed to your Youtube channel 32Bitz , watched all your videos last nite, very interesting, look forward to seeing more.
was surprised how well Doom actually ran, altho i think it would struggle later on when is lots more enemys around, im hoping the likes of Gloom,AB3D are improved enough to be properly playable.

Have my TF330 here but unfortunatly my CD32 is away being recapped , typical
will be sure to check the reset button as well.

I too have done a video on the TF330 showing it running 4 games (gloom, guardian, fears, frontier), a demo (braincell) and of course sysinfo. The video shows side by side comparison of the standard cd32, the TF328 and the TF330.

Take a look if you get the chance.

Not covered in the video but one thing I found is that gloom se and the doom cd32 release both show corruption on screen. Gloom se can be fixed using the 030 chunky to planar routines and I suspect doom could be similarly fixed but I haven't tried it. Using the akiko routine gloom se does appear smoother at full screen 1x1 scalling but since it's corrupted it's unplayable. Would it be possible to fix this issue and make use of both akiko and the power of the 030?

Does TF330 have mmu?

And, would anyone know when will burst mode be enabled and how much of a boost is expected?

Cobe - This depends on the CPU installed. I believe the included 030 is the EC version with no MMU. My 030 is the EC version.

Glen - I enjoyed the video

A new firmware will be out shortly which speeds the 330 further by about 20-25%, reduces ram waitstates and adds burst mode. DoomAttack runs very well in full screen mode with it, very smooth.

Tasty boost

What are the instructions for flashing new firmware please?
I have flashed other items using JTAG with a Raspberry Pi before and I think the TF328 could be done this way.

Also regarding the 'Reset' button on the actual CD32 it is supposed to work (mine crashes the CD32). I've seen no documentation on it. I know you can power cycle or soft reset with keyboard.

Thanks

The same method that you used with the 328 will work with the 330.

Alternatively, if you bought your card from me, you can also send it back to me for an update.

This is the first I hear about the reset button problem... I cannot reproduce it on my consoles, so I am not sure what's causing it.
