If it costs under 10 USD on release I think it's fine. If I don't like it, I won't play it. Otherwise I regard it as a fiendish plot to make money from a classic game

Now that, I agree with.

They might be better off as having this as a Kickstart project? I'd certainly pay for update, just as I enjoyed buying and playing the Special Edition versions of Monkey Island 1 & 2!

Interesting, but once bitten twice shy - Prince of Persia Classic on the PSN, utter garbage. No complaints here about the Nathan Drake lookalike. Most remakes aren't worth it. I'm trying to think of one which was, but anyhow it won't bring back the feeling of playing it in the 90s. The old Flashback had plenty of style, but this new one looks kind of...will wait and see.

EDIT: Just remembered Turtles in Time Reshelled...Oh my...it didn't happen!

It's all about shooting/punching enemies (when you're actually able to see them in that dark) now.
Also, explosions, explosions, explosions.

Dear god, why?

The (Amiga) game has conflicting information. For example the (teleport) receiver when picked up is called a "phone" in the text that appears at the top of the screen.
Does that mean when we perfect teleportation in real life we can just warp anywhere as long as there is a mobile phone? (Just don't leave your phone in your bedroom, or you never know who might drop in!)

When you say Genesis, it must be in the american version only. I have Flashback on the Megadrive and don't recall a comic strip in the manual.

Teleportation, there is an app for that

You are correct, it is Genesis as in US Mega Drive.
I had read about the comics in the Wikipedia article and took a quick look for manuals. Since I only found the Genesis one, I only bothered pointing to it.

In North America, the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), Super Nintendo and Sega CD versions featured a Marvel Comics comic book within the manual in order to explain the initial story

Thanks for the link. About halfway down the page it states:

Quote:
The PAL Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo releases (there was no PAL Mega CD version) omitted the comic and instead featured a textual prologue
Apparently, the Sega CD (US version of the Mega CD) featured audio tracks on the CD and the game wasn't converted to PAL
Looks like I'll be buying a game for a console I don't own this weekend!

Edit:

I saw the trailer on YouTube for the new game. I think some bits look better than others and agree that some of the textures need work. I still think it has potential to be just as good as the original game.

I really would like to play this. I spent many hours with the original on my Megadrive, so I would like to try this, and I like how it is by now.

Unfortunately, it won't be out on PC.... Thierry Levastre told me that it was not possible due to the amount of different types of machines available out there (will cost too much money....) a rea shame

Anyway, it has now well advanced, compared to what i saw back in january

Wat? You don't "support gfx boards" you just code it for DirectX or OpenGL (more likely given it being cross platform) using features for a level you're expecting to be widely available (i.e. OpenGL 3.1 or DirectX 9 level features - whatever the XBox and PS3 are the equivalent to).

Sounds like a cop-out. Sick of buying into all the console rubbish anymore.

too much piracy on PC, thats prob the real reason, although the PS3 and 360 are pretty well hacked to death anyway

I told it to Thierry, please port the game on PC, and he said, no, it's too much hassle to make it compatible with all graphic cards (buggy drivers + each of them work differently).

It's not the piracy thing. They would only do it if ubisoft asked them to do so.

I've read that if a title gets released on PS3, XBox360 and PC it sells best on PC.
